I really like PT 11.2.  If you are working with live tracks the tools it includes are very powerful.  Coming from SONAR isn't easy because it's a totally different mindset.  But once you get used to it, the things that you can do in that environment are hard to do without.

I've been able to manipulate my screensets in SONAR platinum to make it a little more PT-ish in appearance but Beat Detective and Audio Warp is where the rubber meets the road - not to mention all the routing possibilities.

SONAR will be fun for creating my own projects and experimentation but I will likely be using PT for everything else.

I was interested until I saw that I wouldn't be able to use any of the VST plugins I've amassed over the years. Some other disturbing limitations, too. Like, you can only create three projects with the free version, then you have to buy project space on the cloud. Here's a full list of the capabilities/incapabilities:

Most Companies now offer AAX versions of the VST's that will work in PT....
so if you want to use your plugins you still can....just an FYI...

There are vst adapter apps available that will host your VSTs. Maybe there is a demo mode for one to give you a feel for how they would work. I've got one but I generally stay away from any sort of bridging apps because of the potential for hiccups.

Guyz be sure to specify that PT really sucks for modern producers (aka in the box) ...for tracking and live player iut's exellent but for Producers ....keep it minds that Sonar will be far Superior in the midi dept ....keep PT as an option after ...and giving the quality of sonar summing engine and double precison options and that full 64 bits ....PT is just struggling to be as good nowdayz ....

So really , using PT is to be considered if like Bob you gonna use it's editing and specificty to the fullest , cause it's wehere it shines ...

Yup. Sounds like trouble to me. I'll stick with Sonar. Besides, it's mostly the three-song limit that bugs me.
But thanks for the info. If I'm ever in a spot where I need something like that, at least I know it exists.

Agreed. What a joke. Maximum of 3 stored projects then you have to purchase more cloud space.
You can't save the project to your local hard drive with the free version, you can only save to the cloud.

Well, the only reason why a company would give away something is to lure people into buying something. They'd be out of business in no time if they provided a free product which doesn't have any serious limitation.

Free is the new demo.

OTOH, if you collaborate with someone on a project and need PT for compatibility only, you might get by with Free.
