Not to pedantic Larry but Bob was highlighting Notion, not the $5 sale schtuff.

So The Bapu calls it a draw.

For $5, everyone's a winner.

Except Notion. That's $50.

DUH!!
I was looking at Presonus Progression 2 (which has notation): https://shop.presonus.com/products/cinco-de-mayo/Progression-2 for $5.

Lesson learnt.....Never question the Bapu, he is always right.

Good prices.

You have to wonder though, Presonus buys up a product developer and a few months later is having a fire sale (prices undercutting the distributors) on a download of their newly acquired products. In spite of protestations that development and support will continue, will there ever be a Notion5? Or do they just plan to cash out?

Given the competition, and the fact that these products are mature, reportedly relatively intuitive to use, and well reviewed, buying the current offering is sort of a no-brainer. If you want good looking output, and have the patience, you can get Lilypond. I wonder how the MusicXML export from Notion is. Better than Sonar no doubt.

By the way. I am assuming the download file (NotionBundledInstaller.exe) is just a stub, and that you will need to run it with an internet connection open to actually get the sample library. Can anyone confirm that?

in on this very quickly. although i have Finale PrintMusic, Notion looks so much more fully featured. And the quality of samples is reportedly excellent

I bought Notion for the exact same price in December, which I think was before Presonus took over.

[EDIT: Looks like it was actually after Presonus]

And I just bought Progression for $5 so I can put it on my laptop (and maybe my tablet) without wasting an install of Notion.
