I don' know...here.

Not something I have a use for but I haven't liked a lot things Gibson has done. It's ugly too IMO.

I was surprised they didn't have Rose redesign it and make it a Robot trem/tuner. Sheesh.

Kahler already has a superior version of this,
has been around for quite some time...

i have one, on a 1984 Carvin DC200K

does not require a huge route, either:

I can't see the first pic ? can see the second.
Of course the original trem works just fine for me and can be had
for a lot less than any of them. As long as I have tuners on the head
no others are needed.

I had a Gibson 347 with that fine tuning tailpiece years ago...T6 if I remember right but I do
remember all those little knobs were just something I made sure were set right when I changed the strings...useless marketing junk to me.

here's the Kahler's version of a locking trem:

called the "Hybrid"

one of my favorite trems

here's the guitar w/trem:

well, with the kahler, there is a locking nut behind the actual nut (does not effect the tone of the guitar like a rose locking nut does)

so of course, once you've locked the nut, you need the fine tuners to dial in the actual final tune, after the strings have settled in.
this thing works so well, i would never change it for anything else.
an awesome 'floating' trem.

here is the new one installed, with the old next to it:

$239.00 !
Kahler and Rose will not have to worry about me. They can keep their little fine tuning knobs...just don't need 'em.

I bought nut files and learned how to make sure the bone was right for the strings...no locks needed.
I'm glad there is a selection out there for us.

I was thinking....
If I worked for Gibson knowing how appealing robotic/automatic contraptions are to them I would design a tailpiece that
was programable. Instead of the fine tuning knobs they would be touch sensitive and user could program how much each string would be raised or lowered and by how much- semi tones- when touched. For example one could raise the third string, lower the first and not change any of the others.
That would get the guitarist closer to a steel guitar...I guess there would be a few more buttons for release of pre-bends too LOL.

...with plans for the updated model to have "auto picker" so when a touch sensitive trem button was touched a little picker located in front of the saddles would pick the string. :)

That is one drool-worthy looking instrument you have there Bat!
(The neck pickup needs more pole pieces though...  )

well,
i have a standard 2-post trem on my custom strat,
and it is set up floating, with a tremsetter...

and it works well,
but cannot touch the carvin/kahler setup for aggressive whammy bar use.
just cannot.

this thing, i can pull the trem up to the point where the strings ALMOST POP...........!!!!!!!

and it will drop back down into perfect tune.

i can deflate the strings to floppy land.....
and the same thing when it comes back.

i like it better than the floyd,
because it is much easier to get very gentle vibrato (sounds like a Bigsby) with it,
and it is very touch sensitive.

I'm happy for you Bat. Very cool to have the tool that fits and that's how I feel
with the Fender trems. When it works how you want it to all is good.

Both presidents of Guild and Kramer Guitars gave me one free top of the line guitar in the 80's
Guild used the Kahler …..Kramer used the Floyd Rose …
I liked both systems just about equally ..eventualy I found that the Kahler seemed to fit my style  of playing back then a little better ….
carry on
