So another guy in another thread mentioned that when he installed AD2 he got a popup offing revalver for free (the current XLN Promo) I did not get this as I already owned AD2. So I logged into my account on the xln audio site and there was my link to a free copy of revalver. Might come in handy for those who didn't see/know/get the popup.

I tried it, it's kind of a sham as you only get one or two amp models and a "shop" for pretty much everything else. Not worth the effort in my opinion, especially since all but basic Sonar already comes with a reasonable well featured version of TH2.

Yup I had just come back to mention that XLN strikes again its the free version of revalver with 1 extra module. They really are a scummy company, I mean if thats what it is just say it rather than advertising it like its a full featured version.

Geez I ***hate**  those kind of ad-ware programs.  They get uninstalled immediately.  IK did that with it's stuff.  I used to have the Fender Amps Standalone - before it got rolled into the 'package'.  Now I have to search for my stuff thru a bunch of models I DONT have  - but for the low low price of bla bla bla, you could own super deluxe etc, etc.

No, XLN, the way they have been advertising the "free" revalver when you buy an AD bundle its like you are getting the full thing, I feel for anyone who bought it direct from them expecting a nice fully featured amp sim only to find its really a product that anyone can download for free from peavey + 1 additional module (the modules for revalver go for $8 btw). This is not the first time I have taken a dislike to the way they try to dupe the people who are paying their bills. I can't complain about their products but they are deffo shady in many regards with the way they do things.

I ain't gonna lose sleep since it was an unexpected addition for me but for the poor guys who bought from them expecting more its a damned shame.

I dont mind them doing it that way, it can make sense since you only buy what you actually want. Each to his own I guess. I own AT3 but I also own most of the gear for it so I dont usually have too many issues with presets that use stuff I dont have etc.

To be fair to peavey the price for the producer bundle to make revalver fully featured is very reasonable, XLN on the other hand, meh, reminds me of those stories of people having to pay to use their AD1 content in AD2.

Maybe this could go in the software forum. It's got nothing to do with Sonar except the very tentative link to the Sonar Platinum Promotion.

It's software that you get when you buy platinum, how is that nothing to do with sonar?

Because Revalver is not Sonar nor is it associated with Sonar and any issue with it is for XLN not for Cakewalk. And there is a software forum for discussing 3rd party software. Also I was the first person in the thread to even mention the word Sonar and that was in the context of Revalver having nothing to do with Sonar. I was only very politely pointing you to the proper place for the discussion.
