This song features Andrew Carney-trumpet, Mike Bagasao-tenor, Ray Ferretti-guitar, Fin Johnston-organ, Jim Lownes-bass, Don Hoover-drum programming, Jonas Aras-electric piano.

There's several automation things that I'm sure I need to touch up and I'm thinking about adding a rhythm guitar part to this as well.

Comments appreciated,

Jonas

Man!  This is way cool!  Can you share any details about the recording?  Live?  Keyboards?  Is this you?

Yep, it's me. I co-wrote all the material along with the bass player, though I think it's fair to say that I did more than half of each song.

I was trained as a "pencil and paper" composer, so all the songs began as Sibelius files that were exported as MIDI.  The bass parts were always the first real track played against a temp drum part.

After that, a real drummer programmed the drum parts; either David "Fingers" Haynes (look him up on YouTube) or Don Hoover using a Korg drum pad. I had to tell them to build the song up and down as the soloists had not yet been recorded, but they needed something interesting to play against.  Having the MIDI for the drum parts has been invaluable.  All the other parts were recorded individually at various home studios across the country.

It's a little strange to do a jazz recording this way, but it's a low-budget self-produced project. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

*slapping my own head*  I somehow missed the line where you introduced the band members.  Sorry.

Very nice!  Trumpet player reminds me of Rick Braun.  Sax player has a nice tone, Richard Elliot-ish.  Keys/Organ are very complimentary to the song. You did a knockout job! The mix sounds awesome on my PC speakers (I'm @ work and I'm very familar with these speakers).  Nicely done Jonas!
