If background noise is consistent (not transient-based), most noise reduction tools will do a decent job provided they have a clean "noise sample" to work with. A bar or two at the beginning and end of takes is usually more than enough to work with. Some noise reduction tools are exceptional, but they also tend to scale in price based on performance.
Nectar 2 is definitely worth running the trial on. I do not use the features of the "Production Suite" but it was part of the Studio Bundle. Melodyne trumps the pitch shifter in all aspects, and the breath control has no use for me, but the plugin itself has a complex FX chain including harmonizer that is rather nice.
