RX Denoiser is great for getting rid of, well, noise. But for dealing with room colouration, Zynaptiq Unveil does astonishing things with material recorded in acoustically dodgy rooms. It's ostensibly a reverb remover, but that's not actually what it does best.

Agree JT...I tried the demo and was impressed. A bit pricey but I'm saving my sheckels. Maybe this spring.

Don't forget you can use that Melda spectral dynamics thing you own to reduce noise too.

One thing I toyed with was cloning the track, flipping polarity, and using the Melda thing to exclude the primary sounds recorded, leaving me with only noise that I could suppress by raising the volume.

Yeah, it's expensive, for sure.
 
I think it's so remarkable, they've earned the asking price, but the value depends heavily on what kind of work you do, I suppose. For me, it's more than paid for itself, as I do a lot of recording with a mobile rig in unpredictable and acoustically dubious rooms. It's also great for getting rid of the different ambiences in sample library material.
 
On the other hand, I think it would be of little to no value in a fixed site studio with acoustically good rooms. Horses for courses.

We do a fair bit of location video audio sweetening and never know what we're going to have to duplicate or eradicate. The occasion I had to try Unveil was a series of commercials shot in a lawyers office where they forgot to turn the lav mics on and only had camera audio...awash in meeting room ring and echo. Unveil put all my other "deverbs" to shame. But the audio was so poor they ended up reshooting. But the next project I need it on large enough to pay for it and it shall be mine:-)

Yeah, if you do that kind of work, you'll find yourself using it all the time.
 
Like I say, it's not just about getting rid of reverb. I use it a lot on fairly dry recordings where I'm not happy with what the room has contributed tonally. Obviously, it'll never be as good as a really good capture in a really good room, but if you're stuck with what you've got, it's invaluable.
