I saw Iris 2, and thought izotope like others seem to want to actively LOSE any money I once would give  them. I also have the expansion packs and sorta feel "ok.. so thats how it is" with regard to them.

I buy fabfilter  / u-he products without a thought if I want them.. that says a lot for the "so called" bigger boys who have I feel are ace poker players with their "marketing"

I'll probably buy the melda stuff this year if I see a nice christmas deal perhaps.

Izotope has posted in the KVR thread and stated they are working on the issue of importing Iris 1 patches.

no eta on fix.  they state for now have both Iris 1 and Iris 2 installed and don't import Iris 1 patches.

very silly that they did not work this out before release.

I won't be buying Iris 2 until this is resolved.  I don't have Iris 1 so I can't use it or older patches.  I have to sit it out and see what happens.

I demoed Iris 2 last night and was underwhelmed.  While it is an amazing creation, the main thing folks have been clamoring for is real time stretching of a sample across the keyboard... while timing is now fixed so things don't speed up or slow down  as you move to other keys, the chipmonk effect hasn't been touched...there are no formant adjustments, no offline formant processing to render a complete patch...At least in Nectar2 you can create reasonable harmonies... and I was hoping for all sorts of creative possibilities with Iris2...I moved over a vocal and couldn't even go a couple notes up the keyboard without it sounding ridiculous...

I read the entire 30+ pages of kvr discussions... it ain't pretty... and has me rethinking the studio bundle deal...all the patch developers are totally screwed and despite what iZoman says, it appears they've got no real way to migrate patches... and it isn't a totally new product like Dune2 or Zebra3... it's just an incremental improvement...which sloppily broke the link to Iris 1...and no warning was given to developers, unlike the others...

In-laws gave me $150 GC Voucher for XMAS.... what-to-do.  Knew Iris was older ($150) so I bought it.  Tried it....very cool.  Like to idea of creating a few of my own sounds... a lot of work, generally, though.  Still, it's cool.  Noticed yesterday that iZotope also is giving me credit for purchasing Iris 2 (really?) so I downloaded and installed (and license validated) that, as well.  A free upgrade!  Merry Christmas.  That said, Iris 2 (in stand-alone mode) is really sluggish with my i7-970 processor (don't think my processor architecture is suited for graphics).  Have not tried Iris 2 it inside a Sonar X3 project yet (Iris was fine).  Doubt I'll ever dive in to all the nuances of v1 vs v2.  Once I get a sound I like it's off to music land.

This is the track I did with Iris. (kinda rough,I know).  The lead in sound (from Iris) is a squeaky door and fingers across window blinds.  Cool stuff.
