It's Thanksgiving AND Hendrix day.

I'm sure Jimi could have roasted that turkey with gusto.

Heck, I'm sure he'd have gotten feedback out of it.

I find that the image that brought to my mind is too disturbing to share!

Now that you're almost an American you have to learn to eat a huge turkey dinner and then shop for a month straight. Is there anything they can't do?

I thought of Great Balls of Fire when I saw the photo. In so many ways I wouldn't mind being American, but as I don't eat Turkey (or other fowl etc including Chicken) and I hate Cranberry in any way, shape or form, I wouldn't enjoy Thanksgiving very much.

Well, our Thanksgiving (and Christmas) dinners have almost always been ham, sweet potatoes, rolls, peas with pearl onions then desert and eggnog for the drink.  So, no turkey or cranberry.

Turkey wasn't a big thing back home either. In fact, I don't think I've ever tasted it before I was in my 20s. But yesterday was my first genuine, big whole turkey. :)

Canadian Thanksgiving is not much but a potential day off at work. I can't think of anyone I know who's ever did anything special on that day.

As for holiday meals, again - ham, meat pies, pearl onions, but most importantly a local layered meat pie called "cipaille", which was THE center of every holiday meal when I grew up.

We've always found Turkey to be very bland and dry type of meat......so, this year instead of the foul, we went for the pig........baby back ribs grilled home style, mashed potatoes, and of course:

Our Thanksgiving tradition involves ordering a couple of Chicago style stuffed pizzas from Giordano's. Instead of spending a dozen or more hours slaving over a single meal, we eat pizza.

Everybody wins.
