Hi, everyone.  This is a new song that I've written and recorded over the last 2+ weeks.  It's a mellow rock song dedicated to the one I love.  I stayed withing the box, using only X1, Jamstix, and Superior Drummer.  The strings at the end of the song come from Dimension Pro.  I hope you enjoy it, and since it's still brand new, I'm open to suggestions in all aspects.  Thanks for taking the time to listen.

You can find it here: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11862494&q=hi

9/27/12- I have remixed this song in X2 using some of the new goodies.  I made the lead vocal louder and replaced Perfect Space with the new Breverb.  I also treated the percussion with the new console emulation in Pro Channel.
It is titled "Lucky Star 2.0".  I left the original for comparison.

It can be found here: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11914967&q=hi&newref=1

I want to thank all that took part in the co-production of this song.

Yeah! What a great song. I love the orchestration that keeps on driving right through the piece with all the variation to keep the listener grabbed from beginning to end. And the lyrics are wonderful. I am always reluctant to give quality composers like you any suggestions - but I will anyway! Perhaps just bring the vocals forward a bit and drop the orchestration back a bit when you are singing. My speakers aren't that great and perhaps it works better on quality speakers, but your voice became a bit drowned on occasion - and I really wanted to hear you! Love it.

Sounding really good to me Lynn. Bass is totally right on. I would only have hoped for a rhythmic change in the percussion on the chorus. Not a crit, just personal taste.

Great song.

Lynn- I am so impressed with this! Sounds like something off a Peter Gabriel album.  There really isn't much to critique technically; this is one to simply enjoy. Ya know, the chorus reminds me a bit of Mr. Mister too (the 'Broken Wings' band from the 80s..a song i have always really liked) The prominence of the bass is great here as well as tonally it has nicely rounded corners around all that full-bodiness. String outro is a neat touch. Very well done.

funny at first i thought this was going to be a Madonna cover ;p

I like it, kept me intrested all the way through.
Malcolmb sorta touched on something there about the vocals" being drowned out on occasion", I'd say its from whatever modulation effect you have on your voice when it sweeps into the lower tone of your voice causing that.
Really like the Bass...what are you using for that?
Keep it up.

Malcolmb, you have good ears, my friend.  I will boost the lead vocal because it became apparent to me when you pointed it out.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Daryl, thanks for having a listen.  I appreciate your comments.

Makke, thank you very much for stopping by and your comments.

Ed, I appreciate your comments, especially about the bass.  As for the rhythm change in the chorus, I thought about that and decided to go with a textural change there instead, for contrast.  I will revisit this later.  Thanks for the idea.

Daren, thanks for your kind comments.  The reference to Peter Gabriel and Mr. Mister are too kind, but, in truth, I did have Peter Gabriel in the back of my mind when I recorded the vocals.  What a great inspiration he is, and good ears to you for hearing that.

Kev, you and Malcolmb are right about the vocal being too low in spots.  The chorus effect did sweep away some definition, and I'll address that soon.  My bass setup is simple - I used a Fender Prophesy bass into a Focusrite Platinum Voice Master preamp with no EQ and light compression (2:1 ratio).  I thank you for your time and invaluable ears.

To all of you, thanks so much, my friends.

Lovely tune, nice balanced mix. I could be persuaded that this was a new release from Gabriel.
