 This is so nice! Yes to the Peter Gabriel + Andy Summers comps. It does sound kinda "euro" or "anglophile". The guitar FX work perfectly. Very well constructed, great lyrics, just great all around. One thing about the vocals, I'm wearing headphones right now and the vocal is kinda bass-y so maybe applying a little highpass filter would allow you to separate the vocal from the rest of the song and bring the volume up a little bit. That's all I can think of as far as critique, except to please keep the music coming. Way to represent!

Thank you, Moe, for the kind words.  I agree about the vocal, and I've already addressed that issue and a few others.  I will be posting a new version of this very soon that I mixed in X2 with a few of their goodies.

First of all, I want to thank all of you that contributed in the production of this song.  I have remixed it in X2 using some of the new features.  I replaced Perfect Space with Breverb on the lead vox and added the console emulation in Pro Channel to a few stereo busses.  I also used the new set of strings for Dim Pro that came with X2. I look forward to your impressions.

Thanks again for your time.

This version is called "Lucky Star 2.0"
It can be found here and in post #1: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11914967&q=hi&newref=1

Cool song, likes it a lot , great arranging and playing.

 Funny I have a feeling our systems have different perspectives on the low end, I found it a bit overwhelming and had to turn it down.  I had just listened to a bunch of songs on the forum here, and yours was WAY loud in the low end.  Not complaining but just thought I'd mention that as you thought my song needed more low end. :)
If your playback system is weak in the low end then that explains it.
My home stereo , which I listen on, is a bass heavy system typical of most. So I find if the bass is overwhelming when played on it, then I need to apply a little hi pass to the mix. This is usually between 65- 95 Hz.

My Monitors are Yamaha NSM 10 which are well known to lack low end. I have gotten used to the way they should sound and am never far off the mark with mixes.
The other possibility is you have applied a massive dose of Boost 11 :}

Hi there Lynn

Cool song, awesome production - this sounds really 'big'

Johnny, thanks for your reply.  I wondered about the volume of the bass guitar because I turned it up a little.  This is something that I will listen more closely to in the next several hours.  BTW, I used Alesis Monitor Ones which are very close to the Yamahas in frequency response.  I will recheck the mix in my car stereo which normally exposes too much low end.

Mark, thanks so much for your time and kind words.

Steve, thank you for your time and words.  That bigness may be too much bass as noted above, but I will be listening on a few more sets of speakers today.  I want it to be big, but not overwhelming.

WOW, now it sounds even more like a Peter Gabriel song!.  Very nice Lynn!. Thanks for sharing!. I will eventually (tm) get the re-mix of Why I'm still here done. Had a bad week of sleepless nights, and 3am postings etc..

Lynn - I loved this first time round. Love the 2.0 version. It has a haunting quality and it stays with you.
The harmonies in the chorus are fantastic.
