Tony, thanks for listening again.  As for the instrumentation, it was quite simple.  I put a Shure 57 in front of my Line 6 AX2-212, found a nice preset, adjusted the delay tempo, and played intervals throughout.  The synth and strings are from Dim Pro, and the drums from Session Drummer 3, Superior Drums, and Jamstix.  The reverb and chorus are from CW.  The rest came from me.   X2 is so complete that it's easy to "stay in the box" these days.

Cool!  Thanks Lynn.  Hey I used to have an AX2 myself!  Traded it for an Egnater Tweaker.

Lynn,

Nice one.   Reminds me a bit a Peter Gabriel.   All around excellent production.

Thank you, Markno, for taking the time to listen and reply.  I must say that I always enjoy listening to your versions of "It's Only Make Believe" and "Silver, Blue, and Gold".  Later...

Kev, thanks for listening and responding and the kind words.  You got the backward f/x right.  It's the tried and true method of taking a clip and reversing it, printing reverb on the reversed clip, and reversing it again so that the reverb is in front of the signal rather than behind.  This is an old method that goes back to reel to reel days, but is very simple in a digital format.  I'm not sure who used this method first, but it probably was either the Beatles or Hendrix.  Someone else may remember.

This is really stellar Lynn.
The change up at 1:28 and 3:24 seems a little out of place though as all the double time stuff just sort of drops out. I don't have any suggestions for that except that I did notice that when I rewind to right before that spot and play it again, it flows pretty smoothly. So, I can only postulate that the perception is different when listening from the beginning as listening from right before the change.   Maybe it could be just as simple as keeping the straight kik going instead of changing it up. Or, maybe keep it straight for the first half.

I'm just nitpicking. Sounds real nice.

Tim, thanks for your time and kind words.  I meant to differentiate between the verses and the chorus by changing the percussion.  One commenter took me to task for not enough change there, but I chose to leave it alone until I heard more input.  This is something that I will pay attention to before the final mix.

I like this! Great feel. The absence/presence of the hi hat does so much for the groove. Nice tune Lynn.
