Currently Memtest+ seems to work better. Memtest is more advanced at the moment but seems to have issues locking up.

I used Memtest to diagnose my latest issue. I did not have any issues running the program.

At some point the original memtest86 was sold to PassMark who continued to improve it through version four. Version five was rewritten and released under another licence.

I prefer open source programs when there is no reasonable difference in the result. When the RAM module is bad it is bad... So far I have not heard that PM version could detect something GPL version could not.

If there was a Memtest86++ I'd use it as a Memagog for Memtest86.
