Very nice tune Tony.

... production is good, vocals are top notch as are the harmonies.

My only crit is some of the guitar solo notes don't sound "natural" to my ear, and what I was expecting based on the major scale.

Overall... very nice work.... post some more stuff....

It's a process... It takes time, effort and experience... I'm sometimes amazed at the progress my fellow forum members, and I have made in a relatively short amount of time... Your production exhibits a great amount of technical & musical skill... The obvious problems for me here, are the timing issues which may be easily repaired... play with it, keep at it, and have fun... Well done...

Great vocals! I would like to hear the acoustic guitar beefed up a little though.

Regards,
Dan

Hi Dan, nice to meet you :). Thank you for your comment, I made the mistake of double tracking the acoustic, only used the jack on DI off my Taylor. Then I used an effect chain to make it sound electric on the double up. I am definitely going back to this song, another comment had me up at 3:30am today pulling the original tracks out of Logic Pro and pushing them over to the PC for some Sonar X2 love :D.

Tony, this is all done with CW and Sonitus f/x.  My lead vocal has the CW multivoice flange/chorus inserted into the f/x bin set to 6voice chorus.  From there it goes to a buss that has a Sonitus gate>Perfect Space with the Choir Room preset.  Thanks for asking and the kind words, and good to see you, too.

Well done, Tony.  I like the song, the mix, and the production.  Please keep sharing.

Heya Lynn,

Nice to meet you :). I had a listen to (and watched) Rivers of the sky, poignant!. Also had time to listen to Lucky Star, very Peter Gabriel on the lyrics, you'll have to share with me how that effect chain is set, if possible with Sonar, if you feel free to some time :).

Tony

Thank you Lynn, I have an upcoming project I may give that setup a go on.

Hi Herb, nice to meet you :). Thank you!. I try to keep my vocals coming out the best I can, I am never sure.. seems to a general consensus I got this one right. The 'Guitar solo' is actually a patch on my old XV-88 Roland called Feedback :).

I am a good rythmn guitarist, but not that good of a lead guitarist.. so.. when I wanted lead guitar, I used that live, with mod wheel etc to taste as I played. I am going back to the song after pulling it into X2 now, and I'll tweak the overall song, and I'll probably sit that a little differently.

Oh and Herb, if you click my link below on Sound Cloud, I have 5 other different tunes on there already. More coming :).

Hi Frank, nice to meet you :). I have actually been at the whole recording thing about 26 yrs, (from tape to now) but it's definitely a process still. I find the recording thing sometimes exciting, most times time consuming, rather play :). Because of your comment, which btw was spot on!, I was up at 3:30am this morning pulling the original tracks out of Logic Pro and bringing them over to the PC for X2 love. I made the mistake of copying and pasting badly on part of the song to make it. I always felt it was just that little bit out, but, I was in hurry to finish an album of some stuff for family/demo etc.. neverfinisheditis aside.

Cheers,

I listened to this song a couple days ago.  I think it is nicely done and a good song but it needs a chorus or something to break it up.  I looked at the wave and realized before I listened that whatever it is it will be the same all the way through.  Now, that's not bad, it is just my preference to have a B,  or B and C part.  Nicely written and played, though.

Hi Warren, thank you for listening, glad you liked it. The idea of the song is it relies on it's stops (some missing atm) and it's lead breaks. Most songs I have written do follow a chorus / bridge thing, this was an exception :). Part of the issue is really that you can't hear the difference in the play style of the guitar at the moment too. I'll be curious to see what you think when I have finished tweaking it all soon. Thank you for your input, I do value all input very much, particularly critique.

Cheers,
