KISS will go down in history books as the only band EVER who had me shaking off my natural composure and singing along at the top of my lungs... Not just once, but for the whole damn show!
I really felt like I was 12 years old tonight! (And my voice is busted, as a result of which I guess I do sound like a 12 years old.)
We were like twenty odd feet from the stage, so we were immersed into it. The setlist was similar as that I posted earlier.
Paul's voice is as busted as I knew it was, but he managed it relatively gracefully for most of the show - exception made of Hell or Hallelujah, the end of which was uncomfortable, and a few sour notes here and there.
Gene's voice is actually pretty good, and hasn't changed that much.
Tommy Thayer is a solid, reliable, no non-sense old-school rock guitarist, and he did a good job with back vocals, covering up for Paul a bit in choruses.
As I said, I always dug Eric Singer - and he surprised my wife and I with a very solid vocal performance on Black Diamond.
But, really - they had me at Detroit Rock City. :)
I'm off to listen to Alive and Alive II. :)
