Sorry to 'dump' my stuff on you good folks here....
I haven't posted in so long due to the fact that I've been slowly building my upgraded system along with some new 'toys' including Sonar 7.

"One": A re-creation of a song I did back in the early 80's. All parts were played one at a time live with no midi sequencing.

http://www.sonicmusic.net/A_Hard_Days_Night.mp3
"A Hard Days Night": Yes, that one.

http://www.sonicmusic.net/Space_Station_3.mp3
"Space Station 3":
10 tracks of Prophet~5
Taurus (freebie)
Z3ta (2 instances)
Dimension LE
Kontakt
Neil Armstrong
Alan Holdsworth

No guitars were harmed during the process since none were used.
(The squashed/crunchy mix was intenional)

If you've made it this far, thanks.

Sadly the instrumentation on "One" was really bad IMO. Sounds like an old Yamaha from the 80's.

"Hard Days Night" was in interesting 70's lounge cover. Again very dated instrumentation.

"Space Station" was cool. Had a very Jarre sound to it.

"Time" was the best by far. Quite enjoyed it. Do more like that.

Cheers

Poly, always good to check out your tunes.

One - very solid; reminds me of Bill Bruford's solo work of that era. Just a little bit dated, but you've made up for that with a great performance.

Hard Day's - wow, brilliant. Sounds like a gene splice of Lennon / McCartney with Steely Dan. I'm usually skeptical of folks doing Beatles tunes, but this really works! Love the re-voicing and the arrangement; could have even gone a little deeper into the R&B groove on the verse, but overall it's fantastic!

That's all the time I have right now; I'll save the other two for later.

Thanks for taking the time to listen Shad.
I should have explained "One" a bit better.
It was originally recorded back in the early 80's. I was trying to re-create a song that I only had a lousy cassette copy of. So it was really myself trying to figure out what I had done 20 years ago note for note including the solo. I should have included the "old" version to compare the two.
As far as sounding like an old Yamaha from the 80's you're close!

Thanks for the listen Ed!

Yea, I know "One" is dated...but then again, so am I
It was more of a challenge to keep my ear chops up. Transcribing this song which was done before I had midi was pretty tough

The Beatles thing was done for a client that was looking for Beatles songs that would be unrecognizable without the lyrics.
I've reharmonized many standards over the years, but this was the first time I've ever done something like this!

I especially liked 'Hard Days' Night.' Cool recreation of that one!

I like what's going on in 'One' too. Good production!

I'll have to catch the other two later--ran out of time.

OK, I had time: last one: no guitars were used? How'd you get that sound?

Thanks for the kind words Janet.
On that last song I used two electric guitar patches that came with the Kontakt 3 library. It responded very well to live playing.

I enjoyed Time. It has a retro feel to it.

The others were nice as well, but all have that retro feel due to the instruments.

Poly,
The sound on One may be dated, but, like yourself, so am I, and I have always liked that sound. Reminds me of Mannheim/Fresh Aire.
Nice performance on that. Sounds like you were pretty busy!
Space Station 3, yeah very Jarre. That was a fun listen.
Time, to me seems even more of a throwback, to the 70's, like Three Dog Night. Well executed, though.
I'm a big fan of playnig synths live, and hope to someday play on this level.
These four songs represent a wide variety, and each of us has our own favorite. My personal favorite is One, but we all have different taste.
I think that is one of the truly great things about this.
