Good stuff...

After much teasing, AC/DC have unveiled the video for ‘Play Ball,’ the first single from their upcoming album, ‘Rock or Bust.’ You can view it above.

The clip shows the band in their traditional stage outfits — Angus Young in his schoolboy uniform, Brian Johnson in a flat cap — performing the song in between footage of various sporting events. This ranges from nuns playing soccer to trick-shot snooker to scantily clad women playing football, volleyball and sliding around in mud.

As has been frequently noted recently, two longtime members of AC/DC are missing from the video. Founding guitarist Malcolm Young has left the band due to dementia and has been replaced by his and Angus’ nephew, Stevie.

Drummer Phil Rudd also did not attend the video shoot. At the time, his absence was written off as a “family emergency,” and Rob Richards, formerly of Shogun, was behind the drum kit in the video. But Rudd has since been arrested and charged with threatening to have someone killed and possession of cannabis and methamphetamine. A fourth charge of trying to procure a murder was dropped. His status with AC/DC remains uncertain.

‘Rock or Bust’ will be released on Dec. 2.

1st the brother, then the drummer...
maybe it's time for them to let it go.

Know what? I think I like Johnson's voice better on this than before. Not sure about the song though.

As for the video...

I think it was time to let it go as soon as Malcolm became ill. It's just not right without him.

That struck me too Krist, he sounds like he's actually singing rather than loudly growling through a smoker's cough

I try and listen to all the new releases that pop up on youtube's front page just to keep current and see what fresh hell the youth have wrought as of the last second.  And I am constantly underwhelmed and dismayed.  But yesterday morning I saw and heard Play Ball.  What a breath of fresh air, great playing and good production.  I've never owned a single AC/DC record (now sad to say) but they've still got it and still Rock!  From the music to the video to the production.  Thumbs way up!

I like it! I'm a bit surprised that I do, but I do. I've always liked Angus' tone. He and Malcolm has had the same great tone for years...You know it's them right off. Hopefully the entire cd is good and not just this one song.

My $0.02 - the song sounds great, but the video....lol

It looks like it was done on the cheap by someone who hasn't made a video since 1980. The band shots have a clinical TV show look about them. The multiple Angus Youngs and the chroma key backgrounds look at least 30 years out of date, and the old movie clips are a money saving technique that got old by the end of the 80's (Bryan Ferry's "Don't Stop The Dance" anyone?).

I can't work out whether it's retro-cool or not though

That's what it takes to make a horse race. I thought the video was just about perfect because it WAS so retro and plain jane.

Me too. Loved the 1920's little girl shouting 'play ball'. Trying to emulate their guitar sound on a track atm and struggling...
