dude- you're a friggin' awesome metal guitar player w/ an equally awesome voice.  love the stereo spread in this mix.  the deep E string bend-flats remind me of the last Alice In Chains album. vocals have this Ozzy meets Dokken vibe but with your own unique vocal stamp as well. harmonies are sweet and remind me a bit of Ratt. i LOVED this. great tune.  A+

Absolutely DITTO!

Great job, Bob!

Hey, Ed,

Thanks so much, buddy, I really appreciate you checking it out and also your comments!

My friend, in my opinion, you definitely have an excellent set of very trustworthy ears!  Your comment about the slight difference in my guitar sound on this absolutely amazed me.  Because after getting the new computer setup and optimizing it, and then installing all of the software and plugins and reauthorizing and updating, when I finally got started doing some recording I noticed a slightly different overall sound, but mainly noticeable in the rhythm guitars.  At first I just attributed it to not recording anything for over five months, and not having my "studio ears" back yet.  As I recorded some more bits and pieces of a couple more test tracks, and then listened to a few of the previous songs from my CD, I kept noticing a very slight difference, as you mentioned, not necessarily bad, but just a bit darker (yet thinner) than usual.

So I started doing some back to back test tracks using the exact same guitar, same amps, same effects settings, all going through the same busses/effects and interface and monitors as always, and was still noticing a slight difference from the general sound of the earlier projects on the old PC.  It was driving me nuts, but I was determined to figure it out, so next I decided to check my Sonar audio/buffers settings and immediately noticed that apparently during one of the updates of the drivers for my interface, the Line 6 device control panel switched the record bit depth from 24 bit down to 16 bit.  I have always recorded in Sonar using 24 bit and then triangular dithered down to 16 bit when exporting the final mixes for CD.  Anyway, LOL, to make a long story even longer,  I changed the record bitrate back to 24 and did another test, and BANG!, all back to normal!  So I apparently have to do some very focused EQ surgery on the rhythm guitar and bass tracks on this song and the other three that I had already started before I detected and fixed the problem.

Anyway, thanks again for lending me your good ears, and your kind comments, I always look forward to and appreciate your input and observations.

Have a good one, Ed!

Hey, Robby,

How's it going, buddy?  Doing great, I hope!

Thanks for checking it out, and for your kind words.  Yes, sir, you've got that right, after five months, I was really dying to get back up and running and start recording again.  I just hope that I can get my recording and mixing "chops" back in shape fairly quickly.  I remember that you mentioned having your DAW crash and burn for a few weeks over the summer, so I'm sure you know what it's like to really miss being able to do this stuff!

Thanks again, Robby, and by the way, your recent Bad Company collab with Mark was fantastic, really great stuff.

Have a good one!

Hey Tim,

How's it going?  Hope you're doing great!

Thank you very much for checking it out and also for your kind words and input!

Yep, I think I might have jumped in early on the final chorus for the "Can it" and then hesitated and paused maybe one beat too long before the "Be the same" to try to make up for it.  I think that's what it has to be, because when I mute the vocal buses the timing seems perfect with just the music playing.  Hopefully a "scissors and nudge" in one direction or another will tighten it back up.  I've heard it so many times that it's hard for me to be sure that's what the little timing glitch actually is.

Thanks for listening and pointing that out, hopefully I'll be able to get back to touching this one up over the weekend.

Have a great weekend, Tim!

Hey, Kev,

Thanks a bunch, brother!  I was away for a while and slammed at work, so I'm hoping to get back to putting the finishing touches on this one over the weekend.  I should probably have the second mix up by Tuesday.

I really appreciate you taking time to give this a listen and your kind words, your input really means a lot to me.

Have a great weekend, Kev!

Hey, Mark,

It's really great to see you back around the forum!  How are, brother?  Hope you're doing great!

Thanks so much for giving this a listen and for your very encouraging comments, that really means a lot to me!

By new DAW, I mean a new PC.  For recording software I'm still using good old Sonar PE 8.53, although, I must say the latest video for X2 has me chomping at the bit to check it out when the demo is released for a possible upgrade!

Hey, by the way, really nice job on your cool vintage sounding blues post, great keyboards and guitars, good stuff!

Thanks again, Mark, you've been a long time good friend of mine here on the forum and on the old original Line 6 forum.  I really appreciate your friendship and support!

Have a good one, buddy!

Hey Robert,

It's really great to hear from you, man!  Thank you very much for checking this one out for me, and for your great comments.

Yeah, LOL, maybe a warning label and optional cervical collar like in the old "Wayne's World" movies would do the trick!

Thanks again, Robert, your input and friendship means a great deal to me.  Keep on Rockin', brother!

Hey, Kev,

Thanks very much, buddy, I really appreciate you lending your ears to this, and your kind words of encouragement!

Yes, sir, it's always a major pain reloading and reauthorizing, reupdating and transferring software and project backups to a new system, but it's always worth it in the end when you finally get the bugs worked out.  Other than the strange little bitrate glitch that I mentioned above to Bapu, which had me baffled for a while, I think I'm back to smooth sailing again.

Thanks again, Kev, and that was a pretty cool repost of your first ever song forum post from way back in 2008.  That was a nice trip down memory lane.

Have a good weekend!

How's it going, buddy?  Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!  Thank you for checking this one out for me, and for your very kind words of support!

Yes, sir, after finishing up my CD back in April, I decided to take a little break and revamp my recording setup.  It really feels great to get back to recording again with a fresh perspective, and I'm hoping to be able to get my chops back into shape soon.

Much thanks, Freddy, and have a great weekend, buddy!

Hey, Geno,

How are you, brother?  It's really great  to hear from you!

Thank you for popping in for a listen on this one, and also for your encouraging words and good input!

As I mentioned to Tim up above, I think the slight timing glitch at the last chorus might be in the vocal tracks, because with all the vocals muted, it doesn't seem to be there.  I'm going to try to see if a nudge or two might be able to fix it up.  It's funny, when I'm mixing, it's easy to listen to this stuff so many times that you can actually get "immune" to some of the little inconsistencies, and sometimes that makes them hard to put you finger on.  To me, that's part of why this forum is such a great place, because you have so many very talented, helpful sets of ears to help pinpoint the little flies in the ointment.

Thanks again, Geno, I always look forward to and greatly appreciate your input and observations.  Especially because of your amazing musical skills and the pro quality of all your productions.

Have a great weekend!

Hey, how are you, buddy?  Going great, I hope!

Thanks so much for stopping by to check this one out for me, and for your kind words and very good input!

Yep, I think I hear what you mean during the first verse on the words "arms" and "charms".   They sound a bit odd to me as they trail off, I don't actually think they're dropping flat (although I also do that sometimes ), to me, they're just weird sounding inflection-wise.  Luckily, I always sing the vocals straight through three times using track layers, in case I screw something up, so I can pinpoint a bad note or stumble and then splice in a syllable or word from another take to fix it up.  Thanks for pointing it out, that's a big part of what makes this place so great.  Getting helpful input and observations from what other people are hearing on their end, that might be easily missed from being so close to a song while working on it.

Thanks again, your input and observations are always very helpful and greatly appreciated.  Have a good one!

great song, riffs, playing as ever. You have a very distinctive ultra-saturated guitar tone. with James on the drums being the weakest link, they sound a lot brighter than the rest of the mix.

Hi, Janet,

Thanks so much for checking this one out for me, and for your very kind words!

Yes, it was a bit unsettling hitting the "restart' button after five months and setting up all the software, drivers and plugins again on the new PC, but I'm slowing getting back into the recording groove again.

Thanks for lending me your ears, have a great weekend!

Hey, Mark,

It's great to see you back around on the forum, hope you're doing great!

Thanks for checking in on this one for me and for your kind comments and observations.  I have a feeling the brightness you mentioned on the drums might be a bit of magnified contrast to the accidentally darker (or just different) than usual guitars caused by my accidentally recording everything in 16bit after the driver update error that I mentioned to Bapu above.  I'm hoping to smooth things out a little with some EQ blending on tracks and buses to try to get things glued together a bit better on the remix.

Thanks again for your always good observations and suggestions, I always look forward to, and appreciate your input and ideas.  Have a great weekend, Mark!
Bob
