  • In the market for a new Reverb: Valhalla or Waves Gold Bundle (or both)!?!?!? (p.2)

I like both the Valhalla reverbs and the Waves ones. I bought the Gold bundle on sale a couple of years ago (or was it Platinum) and I have had so much use out of those plugins its unreal. It's worth reading all the manuals because you get so much more out of them. There are a lot of plugins in the bundle which I dismissed for ages because I didn't know how to use them properly, but after reading the manuals recently I use them a lot.

The convolution reverb it comes with is the "lite" version - it's still great but lacks some of the controls of the full version. TrueVerb is great. There's been times when I couldn't get the sound I was after with Valhalla and TrueVerb has been exactly what I was looking for.

The Waves deal seems like a really good deal. If I had the dosh and wasn't on XP, I'd be all over it!

Certainly, worth a look if you could use quite a few of the plugs.

If you're going to spend a couple hundred bucks, primarily for reverb, I would suggest that you should consider Aether as well.  Yes, it costs more than the two Valhalla units combined, and I have never used either VRoom or VVV.  But Aether would be my desert island choice (you know - pick one and only one) for an algo reverb.  Don't know if there are good seasonal prices, however, but I'd bet if you had it, you'd never suffer from a grass-is-greener sense of deprivation.

Valhalla or Waves...inexpensive, easy installation versus, um, a sharp stick in the eye? Tough choice, I know.

Nice reverb, dmbaer.

Jim recommends PhoenixVerb, which is $199.

MY pal McQ always suggests Phoenix. I got the demo.

I admit that I'm kind of green when it comes to the nuances of reverbs but I seem to fall back to EMT140, Valhalla, & Lexi LXP. Lately I've demoed Rematrix. It's pretty nice. At sale prices it's in the Phoenix price range.

++Valhalla.  I've never used VRoom, anyone have any reasons they would use that instead of VV?  Any thoughts on Shimmer?

I have VV and the great UberMod.  I don't generally use a lot of reverb but really like the VV sound.  I use UberMod all the time.

Room certainly has a lot more presets than VintageVerb. I hear Room as more modern sounding. I tend to reach for it on synths more than VintageVerb, which I instinctively reach for when it comes to vocals, guitars, drums etc.
