I have been testing this throughout the day and it "seems" like it is broken, was wondering if anyone else can verify this behavior. . .
 
I have all the Native Instrument Studio Drummer and Abbey Road drum kits and want to import all the midi in to AD2 so its available in the browser.  (The Studio Drummer and Abbey Road kits are a very comprehensive set of midi loops. )   I am able to get the files copied and organized per the AD2 naming convention so they show up and group properly in the browser.  However, the mapping does not appear to be working.
 
 
The mapping is supposed to be easy, it shows a keymap with keynumber and the stroke in the kit that it plays. However, the function of this seems to be reversed. If with the stock mapping, say key 36 is kick. The midi monitor shows IN= 36, out = kick.  If you move the kick to key 40, the midi monitor says IN=40, out = kick.  The remapping seems to be influencing what is reported as the IN, not what is actually triggered.
 
 
The problem is that it doesn't allow you to remap the wrong hits.  In the Studio Drummer grooves, everything that is supposed to be a closed HH sounds as a sidestick. The midi monitor says IN=37, out = sidestick. So if you put anything else in slot 37, you would think that would translate the 37 to something else, but it will play nothing. However, if you move the sidestick to (say) 50, the midi monitor will say: IN = 50, out = sidestick.
 
Its like that NI Studio Drummer pattern will ONLY play kick and sidestick and when you remap an input to trigger something else, what it really does is change the reported input, not what is actually triggered.
 
Anyone else own AD2 and can confirm this?  Hoping that there is a checkbox or option somewhere that reverses this behavior but I have been staring at it for hours.

Is anyone able to get midi mapping working with 3rd party libraries?
 
The mapping seems to work properly with controllers, but not with midi files.

I found the question mark (?) first drop down selection, in AD2 has a learn feature..(first select the drum, then the ? then the first drop down selection for that percussion,..if you are having trouble finding the right instrument playing with 3rd party midi libraries, you can learn/teach the Ad2 to play the drum of your liking.
However knowing what the original drum is supposed to be??, in the third party libraries I have, no names are listed...so It seems to be a chance thing to get right or sorted out to play in likeness of the original, which I have no clue about if I did not make the midi drum file....and things are not specified in the midi info as names of that percussion instrument used....Not sure if this is your problem?....
 
I posted up some mappings of names and numbers for GS and XG I think, the other day, when asking something similar here, you might try to get something like that in your tool belt...you might have to zoom on the xg mixer stuff...
Still looking for those names and values myself to map things correctly in AD2.....Hope my post helps...?...hope the learn feature helps?....and if anyone else chimes in ....That is help I am sure many should have knowledge of, if it is not revealed in terms at hand....

I can get AD2 to map controllers, but it doesnt seem to work for midi files.
 
You create the ADmap file and put it in the directory with the midi files.  I know that it is reading it, but instead of remapping the output, it seems to remap the input. (weird)  I have an email in to XLN but will probably have to wait a week for a response, and then probably a year for a bugfix.

oh...I believe that has to do with a small program instruction that usually starts at the beginning of the midi file?.
I believe I had some of those XG mapping files once upon a time on a cd with Xg Midi...all one had to do was put that programed mapped part on the midi file of choice, at the beginning of the midi file, and it would remap the GM midi to XG Midi on the db50 xg card, and then it would play things correctly....
 
Have not found that XG cd or book yet myself, as I have visitors from the north at my home now with children until Saturday evening, So not much time to play and seek out the midi stuff I have in boxed states, or in unmarked cd jewel cases, to possibly help at this point.
Might make a hack of that DB50 Board so I could use that...to trigger Sonar/AD2, If as you say controllers work.
 
But as I have been fiddling to sync a PC AND MAC to MIDI, and that sort of documentation on that must be with my Midi stuff from eons ago....I should make more efforts to get that located...
 
You may want to try the Learn feature to assign the midi correctly first in AD2, for the type of midi file you are trying to play (if you can find the voicing of the notes of the original, and make sure something very alike is setup in AD2 to play back, then try saving the AD2map, and put that with the original midi and reload, and see if it does anything then?
 
Any hoot, this is kind of important to me to learn these new plug ins, know if it can be done more quickly other than remapping every drum by chance, or the way to make a map for GS GM XG and KORG or other with proper names to notes and banks, showing when a midi file is opened up, so if something does not play correctly, one can find the out of line percussion and make a change fast...So  please do not mind me watching these posts, and chiming in to ask, or adding any input.  Perhaps that is what needs to be done for all the midi that is not made with AD2....yah making midi maps..and posting them somewhere for the general standards, and some well known Drum or midi keyboard maps  to work right from the get go, would help me, and you.

I uploaded to MS onedrive some xg gs and gm reset files...I believe you put these in front of the midi file, so it plays as...

I also found the XG Book from which these files came with on cd, which has the names of all the instruments and note values banks and such...So I will have to copy the manual, and post up the info, for XG, if anyone wants that in, from my upload,  just to share....soon.

I'm not sure I fully understand the problem because I don't have AD2 in front of me to check it out. However, in the meantime, if you want to use a groove from Studio Drummer in AD2 without having to manually remap all the hits, you could just select "AD" in the Studio Drummer Options -> MIDI MAPPING -> PRESET menu. Then, when you drag the groove onto a MIDI track (by dragging the little cross hair in the bottom right hand corner of the groove preview box) it will generate a MIDI clip with AD mapping. So I guess you could have an instance of Studio Drummer open, preview the grooves using its drums, and drag the winning clips onto your AD MIDI track using Studio Drummer's AD mapping.
