Just upgrade to AD2 if you can. It's worth it to get all your ADpaks and midi paks working plus the sound it much better in AD2.
As far as the midi paks, it depends on whether they are encased in an XLN file. They may be just midi files on your hardrive somewhere. I have no idea where. I've got a few midi paks but have only ever used them once and that was years ago.
I would upgrade if they do the 50%; that would be fair. I sent the email; they did not reply until after the sale and the link they give to the upgrade is for the full price. They got my money, no discussion, no support, just a hand out for more. I know now that I needed the upgrade, but to be so matter of fact and not care that their neglect meant my loss is not the kind of customer service that I would expect. I have sent them an email reply hoping that they would at least offer the 50% upgrade that was avaiable until last night. We will see. If they give the 50%; I will do it, because that would be fair. My mistake, but fair.
On a more positive note--
I did just find a workaround way to get the new midi (AD2midi paks) into the old AD1 and my old AD1 midi into the new AD2 beats. I found on my xlnaudio account page that I can download just the old and new midipaks. So I did, and put them in the External Midi sections of AD1 and AD2 with my groove monkey files. So, at least that part is now working for the AD1 and AD2 separately. But still the mix and match of kitpieces is not going to work for either AD1 or AD2.
I will shut up. I know I am ranting. Just learn from my mistake.
[EDIT: On Saturday Dec 6th, Xlnaudio's support finally sent me a reply, and they offered me a deal on the upgrade. They apologized for taking so long and for me missing the sale. So, I am upgrading my AD1 to AD2, and all should be well. While I do not understand why it took so long, I do admit that xlnaudio stepped up and did the right thing, and made thing right. Thank you xlnaudio.]
