Thought this site
may be enjoyed by some.

I know he doesn't cover all the Strat Plus Deluxe info because I own a '89 that
has serial number (color code) that he doesn't have listed nor example shown- tried to send him info but his email wouldn't work-but still fun to check out is commendable efforts.

He also points out great info on the Wilkinson and roller nuts that were recently of interest here.

So many fantastic colors...inspired me to learn how to paint, so I will.

Nice! There's an endlessly long Strat Plus thread on the Fender forum that I think he is all over.

I have a late 90's Strat Plus in Lake Placid Blue, which is apparently a somewhat rare color for the model.

I have a blue one too Drew. Not sure of the color code - it's in storage but I may get it to find out.

The Fender Color Chart
doesn't list "51" either. The "50" Forest Green looks close but mine isn't transparent- it is dark and metallic.

Well it really doesn't matter because collector value means nothing to me. I knew I'd never get rid of it
and enjoyed playing it so much I installed the GK hex pickup and have kept it next to the DAW since I got it years ago.

Kind of fun learning the details though.

I have a 85-86 MIJ in black with aftermarket active pickups middle and neck pups are "standard" but I have a three way switched single space humbucker in the bridge position.

That sounds like a great guitar Ed.

I owned a MIJ Strat that I wished I'd kept.

Took me years to learn...I don't sell them once I get them now.

Same here. I'm an "intrinsic value" kind of guy so unless I was going to sell something I don't really care.

I think it's interesting that it's a rare color for that model though. LPB is one of the original custom colors and not uncommon in general. It appears that Fender at that time was making a lot of particular models of guitars in some colors but with a few exceptions in other colors (if you were at an independent dealer and not at a Guitar Center). I always found that odd.

I have 2 (Fender) Strats from around the same period - the LPB Strat Plus and also a Candy Apple Red (another original custom color) Lone Star Strat. Both seemed to be uncommon colors in that time frame for any non-vintage stylings and I sort of pounced on both when I stumbled on them as I lusted after those particular colors.

I got on the kick of having Strats in different colors and never got into all the color codes
and names...now I'm wondering how much Fenders painters cared about those codes LOL.

The code 71 -Candy Green is the closest one to mine but I know the serial number and the code is 51 and 51 is a Sky Blue on their chart.
I also know the original owner ( he played it months and wanted a change) and also know that the guitar is original except for my mods so I'm not putting a lot of stock in the color chart/serial number being all that accurate.

Now I'm curious Drew...I have to pull out my blue anniversary and red to check the chart/colors. Darn site opened a can of worms LOL.

You can take a look here as well, but as you say 51 is listed as Sky Blue and the 3 digit color codes ending in 51 don't match either:

Yup...I got turned on to his site a couple of years ago when I picked up a 50th anniversary Foto Flame MIJ tele.  He's got the most info on all things MIJ.  Totally cool site!
