I think I'll start a lawsuit since a couple of the songs on that album sound like ones I came up with.

(But I'll probably still buy the reissue.)

I'm waiting on I,II,III,IV and Houses Of The Holy -Deluxe CD Editions to arrive so I can't answer you yet.
Should arrive by Friday.
Figured if I was going to get them I should go with the bonus discs too.
Since I have all the original albums in ace condition no reason to dup them and especially at the cost of the Super Deluxe Edition Box offers.

i already have 2 and 3,
they were worth it.

but IV is one of my alltime favorites,
curious to know the concensus on that one.

Did they remaster?

I think they are remastered, but they have been remastered at least once (I think twice) already, so there is very little different in the main material than what has been out for quite a while.  They main selling point is the alternate versions and outtakes and stuff.

I don't understand the appeal of remasters if there wasn't something wrong with the previous version.

Unless the analog tape they used the last time was inferior to some newly discovered, markedly superior, lower generation 2 track, it means they are using tape that's several years older or the same digital transcription that was used the last time.

If I didn't like the EQ from the last one or thought it needed gobs more compression (), well I can do my own EQ.

I am curious about the extra material though.

Thanks sven. I was asking because i would prefer them NOT be remastered. I am curious about the extra material

The 90s Box Sets remasters were absolutely fine and took care of the issue - which was that the catalog had not been properly mastered for CD.

Once that out of the way, admitting that Page himself supervised the original remaster series, my impression is that anything they do from there on would be intrusive and detrimental to the music, and would probably also compromise the dynamic range.

The extra material I'd be curious to hear obviously. Though oddly enough, I remember Page saying that that was it and that there was no material left unreleased... That was back in the 90s.
