When I check for a crossgrade from EZD-2 to SD-2, the price is 229.00. If I just buy the SD-2 full, the price is 179.00 .. am I missing something, shouldn't the crossgrade be cheaper than buying the product outright, or am I comparing "apples to oranges"? I must be missing something.

the full version is on sale with $120 off instant savings.  the crossgrade does not have the $120 instant savings.

Oh... well that makes it OK. IDK, but it seems to me that if there is a sale on "Full" there should be a break for people who are already customers and want to crossgrade, but what do I know (except that I won't be doing a crossgrade and I won't buy the Full version.. because the whole thing stinks to me, if I did, it would bother me forever.. or for a long time anyway.
If Full was at least 10 dollars more than the crossgrade I don't think it would bother me as much, but more expensive to crossgrade than to buy Full... nah. I was hoping I was mistaken about something but this is like a "stick poke".

Thanks Scook, I will watch for it. The only thing I see in the BF sales that really interests me is Kontakt 5. I guess 199 is a good price but IDK if it is really a sale. I guess I'll have to check. I'll probably go in on the IK buy one get 3 or 4 thing too. Maybe something will come up tomorrow that hooks me.

$99 for the crossgrade when it goes on sale is an excellent price, but other than waiting on a sale for the crossgrade, I'm not sure why it's such a big deal to buy the full version instead of the crossgrade if the price is right?  just pretend the crossgrade doesn't exist...not all companies do crossgrades.  if it "doesn't exist" then the Superior for $120 off is a BARGAIN!

I bought the crossgrade from GC directly (in the brick & mortar near my house) for $67....
 
it might have been a BF sale or something, but it was ridiculously stupid not to buy it for that price!!! 

Oh yeah, buying online is not necessarily the cheapest way. $67 is a great price, esp. tax included. They must have been dieing for the shelf space or it was one of their loss leaders.
 
From what I recall of previous year end sales, the discounted crossgrade comes nearer the end of the year along with a general sale on SDX packs. I picked up the NY2 SDX for $50 with the crossgrade in a bundle. Of course, the pattern could change this year.

Toontrack have sales regular. They need to sell their core products to sell the neverending add-on packs. How much more metal is there?

Really...10 metal packs...crack me up.  Yeah, they might as well give away the core product, as I'd think almost everyone will buy at least an expansion pack or more, down the line.  Their stuff is that good, that it lures you in, in my opinion.  However $179 for a SDX is a tad pricey.  They'd sell more than 3Xs if they dropped the price to an everyday $50, I'd have to think.

Now I know I'll wait and watch! LOL. I think, at this point I will just stay with EZDrummer 2, easy is GOOD for me.
 
All this looking at products and sales has made me do a bit of thinking. I've been thinking that I want Kontakt 5 but then Komplete 10 is only 200 bucks more, but then 500.00 is a bit of change. I know that people seem to like most of the sounds of Komplete better than ST3 BUT... from what I read between the lines, I think that if I get Kontakt 5 I will be constantly wanting to add this and that to the sound collection and it will end up costing me more. Also, from what I read, ST3 is a little more idiot proof (easier to use). I'm thinking about waiting for a sale on the "all in" ST3 bundle. Most of the review videos I've seen on ST3 sound good enough to me and it is all 64bit too... and cheaper. So, I am going to watch for a deal on it. If you see one, let me know. So far I have resisted all the BF sales. I've put stuff in carts and then backed out, but I don't need this stuff... I could use Komplete 10 or ST3 though, and I am cheap on some things... so, ST3 it is.
