Acoustic Instrument Sounds Just Like an Electronic Synth

http://vimeo.com/110633932

Yaybahar is an electric-free, totally acoustic instrument designed by Gorkem Sen. The vibrations from the strings are transmitted via the coiled springs to the frame drums. These vibrations are turned into sound by the membranes which echo back and forth on the coiled springs. This results in an unique listening experience with an hypnotic surround sound.

Nice, but I predict the entertainment value wears off in about 20 minutes though...

Nice noisemaker. Anyone ever own a waterphone? Another nice noisemaker useful as a conversation piece and odd noises for film sound beds. I suspect the sentence " I play the yahawhatever for Boston Pops" will never be uttered.

I'm pretty sure it only sounds like that when sat atop handmade rugs in a single room cabin perched high above a serene ocean view. Put it in a rent controlled walkup in NYC and I bet it sounds like the neighbors cats fighting.

I've been trying to get the sound of the neighbours cats fighting for years..  where can I buy one of these things?
