Nomad Factory Updates Plugins to V 5 - I tried this update and it overwrote all of the .dll's that X3 had installed. Now all I have is demo versions. I can't find the license files anywhere on my machine.

I'm probably doing something wrong as I did not see anything saying the update did not apply to Sonar X3 Producer owners.

Nomad factory is not very clear on what this update will or won't do, are they?

Sorry you are in this mess I hope that someone comes on to clarify if this is needeed or not to those of us who have the X3 version of these plugs.

I would imagine overwriting dlls bundled with SONAR with unlicensed versions from the vendor would be no different than installing the previous version from the vendor. There are no licenses associated with the plug-ins bundled with SONAR because the plug-ins are locked to SONAR. The versions from the vendor are not locked to the DAW.

Not sure what is going on with the V5 update. I have a few weird issues now that I have updated.

Anything that came with X3 will pop up a dialog box stating it is in demo mode.

I have four other purchased plugs from Nomad and the .Auth files. Even after telling the activator to read the .auth files it said all is well but,

3 out of 4 will open, as usual, but the gui says DEMO V5
1 out of 4 causes the dialog box to pop up stating it is in demo mode.

So, I am going to spend some time, even though I don't have it, putting a trouble report together to send to Nomad and see if they can offer any suggestions.

I have sent a detailed support request and I will post as soon as I hear back from them. Not sure when considering the Holiday weekend ahead.

I can state that the update installer is a Selective type installer and I had to manually select each of the plugs that came with Sonar plus the other four I purchased later.

I looked up the licence file for the Nomad Sonar edition. I found it in c:/(computer name)/Documents/Nomad Factory. I dont think you can use this to get your plugins back. You will have to do a custom install and select the plugins again. (  I think)

Thanks for the reply Danny.  I guess it's on hold until I hear something from support but, that's OK. I am going to enjoy the Holiday and my Family!

Wishing Everyone else a Happy Holiday.

I received the following reply from Nomad:

"Hello,

The previous version of Blue Tubes you own was locked to Sonar X3, so when you updated it with our new v5 plugins, it now requires a regular Blue Tubes license.  So we recommend removing the new Blue Tubes plugins and reinstall Sonar X3 to get previous versions of BlueTubes working again.

Any other plugin that we make that is not Blue Tubes should be working as long as you have your old license or reauthorize them individually with a new license.

Perhaps Sonar needs to rescan its VSTs once everything has been properly authorized?

Thank you,

The Nomad Factory Technical Support"

Given the above, I chose to restore from a recent system image and just 'Pass' on the v5 update for the other Nomad plugs I have.
