he was a very flamboyant character back then ( late 70's early 80's), the first time I met him he walked into the music store decked out with a custom made sheepskin coat with a gigantic fur collar ..lets just say he didn't just walk in the room ….he took it over …he comes up to me and asks me if I have a credit card …
i laugh at that question and say to him look Bill I'm working in the guitar dept , I'm lucky if when I get my paycheck that i will even have two nickels to rub together …..
( i used to take guitars home and just keep them ….the store was cool w that and they let me pay them off )
so , Bill gets a credit card rubs it on the ground , grabs an acoustic guitar a cable and gets the guitar to play out of an amp amplified with that rig….
everybody was like what ? ..he said it 's the concept of a guitar pick up ….
anyway, Bill liked to hold court and give all the guitar players something to think about ...
