Wow, this is very sad news.  Billy was a very talented, down to earth guy who was always very helpful here on the forum.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.  Rest in peace, Billy.

Damn this is sad. Haven't been around here lately and then I read this. I first met Billy online in the Project 5 forums. Was always a stand-up type of person with integrity.

Nice work and a lovely gesture Craig.

Yes Billy was a fabulous presence here in the forum. His decency and humour shined through all of his posts.

Very sad indeed. His last thread regarding Robin Gibb was very revealing. Even though he chose not to talk about his condition on the forum, looking back, it was obviously running through his conciousness.

RIP Billy

Hi there, sorry if this is so after the event. Was Billy Arnell from Fair Lawn NJ originally, that set up Fire Sign Records in the early 70s with Steve Loeb? Best wishes to forum members. Mac.

I seem to remember during all of the researching done into Billy back when nobody could confirm if he was passed and we were trying to find his contact details, that it did transpire that he had been active in the music business way back then. The name Steve Loeb rings a bell as well. In fact I'm pretty sure we confirmed that he was the Billy Arnell of Billy Arnell and The Sparkles, a northern soul act from the late 60's. I was surprised because when you looked at his photo, he didn't look old enough to have been releasing records back then! I also remember finding reference to him having composed the theme tune to ABC news in 1967. His recent stuff was modern sounding house music! He must have been a very versatile guy musically.  There's a Billy Arnell and the Sparkles single on YouTube:
