Tried it a bit at lunchtime on my laptop, even though it was only on earphones I was impressed.
Especially like the tube and desk modules. There is so many things to tweak and options to play with.
Their is a large amount of tone shaping capabilities and one of my favourite things is that it can be subtle if needed and the mix knob is very welcome for getting a good blend.

If you have not tried the free little brother you should give it a go.

I will be putting it through its paces when I get home but for the price I think it is a no brainer.

Sounds good - its just that I already have A LOT of saturation plug ins / knobs and was wondering just how different this could be - I think I will try the little brother if there is a demo of this

I tried IVGI and wasn't impressed. TB Reelbus does more/better, and I don't really use that, either. But SDRR is supposedly an entirely new animal.

For the price and as I tend to like all things Klanghelm I have bought in and been doing some testing. It is one very smooth and nice sounding plugin and so far I have been using it in Desk Mode and in mastering mode. It sounds very nice and is capable of some variations in how masters can sound.

The compressor works well when used subtly, the EQ's are handy for final tweaking. Tweaking transient quality, drive, number of stages and crosstalk is also rather interesting and adds quite a lot adjustment to the sound.

In some of the other modes it reminds me of an old Tascam 70's 8 channel mixer I have and sometimes run stems through in a mixdown. It has got a real retro 70's sound and the EQ circuits are passive using actual inductors and capacitors to form the filters followed by some classic 70's gain. This thing has got real color and can add a real sound to any stem. It has nice EQ on the channels too. I have to patch it of course if I want to use it and more often than not I tend to try and get the sound with a plugin instead. Many have failed but this sounds like it can do that job very easily and not only that but offer much more variation in what it is actually doing and sounding like.

It can sound quite sweet and reminds me of Harrison Mixbus type of sound. Might be able to replace parts of that now for me within Studio One like on buses etc.. Although Mixbus offers a lot in terms of EQ especially. It does sound nice. This plugin can show up inside Mixbus of course.

I will need time to explore the other options but it looks and feels very useful. All the controls within the GUI operate slowly and smoothly which is a delight. The IN/OUT meter mode is also very clever and useful for getting the perfect level match in and out of this plugin. I can see this becoming part of my mastering chain now.

Klanghelm plugins are all rather excellent in quality of operation and sound usually. I have found many uses even for that free compressor. I think their flagship compressor might be worth a look into as well. Their VU meters are excellent and still are the closest ballistics wise to the real VU's. I have got 3 or 4 VU plugins now and the Klanghelm meters still dance and feel the best.

Update: The VU meters on the front panel of this plugin (one meter only) are very similar to their VU plugins so the meters are very useful even for just measuring levels. It is good the calibration level can be changed to suit whatever ref level you are working at.

Have been in tube mode and there are some nice sounds to be had there too. Can be pushed hard. Some of the presets are pretty wild and over the top. I am tending to err on the side of less at first and easing in to pushing it harder. It seems to work at both subtle use and being driven.  It will be great for just adding some drive and character to a narly guitar stem etc

It is a little CPU intensive so you might want to render tracks or stems that are using it. It is very low latency though (registers 0.1 ms on my system)

This thing is surely one of the best buys in audio software ever.  If you have a spare thirty bucks, you can't go wrong ... it's a masterpiece.

Could I ask why this is so good? I have a load of saturation plug ins and thought I would probably give this a miss but............

It offers a lot of control over the type of saturated sound you are getting. There are many parameters that you can adjust rather than just a single control on something like the Softube saturation plug in for example. That has a knob and you turn it up and most often it sounds like crap so you pull it out.

But with this the sound can be very transparent or very pushed depending on what you want to do. And everything in between. It is not overly expensive either. There are four very distinct modes to start with which give you a lot of options. With some of the modes you can choose either odd or even harmonics being added or a mixture of both. That for a start is not all that common.

I agree in that I have collecetd a few saturation type plugins and most of them are not worth the time spending on them but this is a different story for sure. So far I have spent time in two of the modes and it is nice for mastering too which is something I would say many saturation plugs are not capable of. So far I like what I am hearing in just the two modes I have been in.
