Indeed a good review, I must say I think this was one of my most used and fun plugins for me last year.
The colouring and shaping qualities are great and it really is a no brainer at the price.

Certainly a contender for "Plugin of the Year" -- especially if price is a factor.

Lots of cool tools released in 2013.  UAD, Waves, Slate, IK, ToneBoosters, OverTone, Sonimus, and iZotope, among others, all introduced fantastic stuff.  We live in good times, friends.

Cheers,
Eddie

I picked this up earlier today thanks to the recommendations. I really love this plug! I have a hunch that once I get a good handle on it this will quickly become a real "go to" plugin.

I am experiencing some kind of cognitive dissonance...almost everybody loves this plugin, but when I listened to the audio demos on the Klanghelm site it only invoked a gag reflex. I had the same reaction to the little freebie version, too.

Maybe somebody can post an audio example of the wonderful things SDDR can do. You might also want to offer it to Klanghelm for their website, as the examples posted there sure aren't gonna sell it.

I reckon you don't like this as it has a BIT CRUNCHER mode
But seriously, I just listened to some of the examples on the website and they did not exactly blow me away. And I'm sure most of these sort of effects, should I ever want to use them, can be achieved via numerous plug ins I already own, so not for me I don't think.

I would agree that the demos are not great and do not do the plugin justice as they just cover the main characteristics of each of the main settings. The thing that demo’s will struggle to show will be the wide range of shaping you can do within in each module and the ability to find more subtle settings which so far for me only Saturn has managed when I demoed it. A video walk through would be better (Zo Kind of stuff) to show the spectrum of options and transitions for each but that is not my skill set so will leave that for someone else.

This is very comparable to Decapitator, not all the same features but in the same ballpark.

I have tried several demos over the last couple of years of Saturation/Distortion and for me this represented great value!
If you already have either Decapitator or Saturn then you are probably covered for most things but as I did not have either of those this has given me most of what I was looking (plus some extras) without the great outlay. When funds permit I will look at getting Saturn as it has the region capability and some added extras. If you don’t have anything like this in the toolbox though then this is  a great option.

Forgot to say that for me Tube & Desk mode are the stand out sections and what I reach for most.
The other two have much less practical application in the type of music I do as they are more "aggressive & destructive".

I have all Tony's stuff.  Price/value is without peer. I also had trouble getting an email to download the stuff. Its seems my provider blocks him. All I had to do was send an email and all is well. He is a really nice guy.

I do own all of Klanghelm's plugins and I think the quality is great on all of them, but I haven't done anything but play around with the SDDR. Like most, I went through a saturation phase and now I find myself turning them off. I guess everything has a time and place and I'm glad to have it in the toolbox.
