Yeh, Nigel, I've no use for bit crushers. Fingernails on a chalkboard to my crusty old ears. But I'd be happy to just put some virtual tape over that virtual knob and pretend it wasn't there.

Controlled harmonic distortion is a good thing. Potentially, a Very Good Thing. I do have Saturn, but although it's usually the first one I try, it isn't always the one I end up using. There is a gap in my toolkit that even the mighty Saturn can't fill, which is why I looked into SDDR.

What I really want is the standalone equivalent of Ozone 4's (not ver. 5's!) harmonic exciter in Tube mode. Perhaps SDDR is versatile enough to cover that, but without a demo there's no way to know. Sure, 30 bucks is a small gamble, but these days even 30 bucks doesn't go out the door without careful consideration.

Would this add value if you already have bx_Saturator? I purchased bx based on a mixing video I saw to liven up rock guitars and I'm really digging it. But, if this would add something new...

Am I the only one (apart from Dave Pensado) who likes the stock ProChannel Saturation Knob? I've heard it get slammed on the forum a few times, but for me it works great to give a little pizazz to anything that needs it - drums, synths, bass - provided I don't crank it any higher than the 2nd or 3rd notch.

I'm still liking the TB Reelbus better than anything else that I have tried.

I know this is an older topic, but cheap plugins always being on the mind it's still relevant.  I've owned SDDR all year and have almost never used it.  I try it all the time but it never sticks - like someone mentioned: too cpu-heavy and introduces an annoying latency.

I like the stock saturation knob as well. I think a lot of stock stuff get slammed by those trying to justify why they spent money on something not noticeably better or different than what they have. I do pay attention to comments by the likes of Jeff Evans and bitflipper because they usually give a thorough explanation of what a plugin does differently and often include empirical data to back it up. Most posts are pretty much rehashing the marketing material. When the Harrison Mixbus became the "this is what the cool kids are using" app of the day, I asked repeatedly to show some example, whether audio or numbers showing a noticeable difference and got crickets. I still bought since it was $19. What I got was a decent product with a really nice built in saturation on every channel that gives a warm sound. Nice, but not worth the drastic workflow shift.
