You certainly brought it on with this.  Crunchy guitar with wah-wah and booming drums put this into overdrive which would make any heavy metal fan happy.  There's a good mix in there waiting to happen.  Two things I noticed right off the bat was that the panning is very narrow (like between 40% left and right, if that much) and the low level of the lead vocal which makes the lyrics hard to understand.  I can grok the lead vocal level, but the panning ought to be opened up so that it sounds like it's in stereo instead of "enhanced mono".  A few tweaks and this will really shine.

Thanks for the listen Lynn. I think your right on the panning of the guitars. 2 rhythm guitar trks are about 50% L/R and the wah trk is only 15-20%. I'll play around with that a bit more today. There is 3 vocal trks 50% L/R semi dry and 1 wet center...might have to spread those out too.
Ear fatigue was setting in late last night...lol
Thanks again
Kev.

this is actually rather neat. a wah pedal is always a good idea in my book. Lynn's point about the mix being too centered at this point is accurate. spread the guitars more and it will allow for more headroom in the vocal. high hat seems a little brittle and digitized; could be warmer. the arpeggio break on heavy guitar is sweet. cool track.

Thanks for the listen and liking the tune Virus. I still may go back and audiosnap the arpeggio part to get it a bit tighter. So here is the remix, I left the 1st one up just incase anyone wanted to A/B both.

Sounds good. Nice guitar playing. Have you considered adding some randomisation of velocity and timing on the drums (particularly the high-hat?).
Best wishes, Malcolm

Kevin, this sounds much better.  You spaced out the guitars nicely without over doing it.  This helps the lead vocal quite a bit.  If you value your lyrics, the vocal could still come up a bit because the f/x tend to put the vocal in the background, though I do like the f/x on the voice.  All in all, I like the way this mix is evolving.

Thanks for the input guys. After listening to it on a couple of differnt speaker set ups, the hats still have to come down without losing the detail in the stick work, which to me really really make the song move.
As for getting the vocals more up front in spots,I think I'll be using the dynamic's portion of V-vocal. I'm pretty sure this was caused by poor mic technec on the singers part. I noticed it when I was removing headphone bleed between vocal lines.
I'm working dayshifts for the next few days, so might be a couple before i get to it...but on the other hand, if I let it bug me all day i'll force myself to get to it as soon as I get home..lol

Thanks again
Kev
