This is great stuff James, the intro and riffs are pure Regatta De Blanc, love that sound. Sting is kicking himself for not writing this song.br>
Beautiful breakdown at 2:08, that's perfect.
Some of those Pod patches have an uncanny similarity to the real thing.

I listened to this the other day and decided to come back and listen again before commenting.  It definitley has Police influence in the song and what isn't police has a Michael Jackson mix influence to me.   Today it sounds more Policeish. The other day I was out walking and heard a Sting song and then a Michael Jackson song (on my mp3).  Having listened to this a couple times I thought of both of those things.  The Jackson part is the sharp in your face beat.  That is meant as a compliment.  So..... I think this is a great job, JYoYo.

MJ, huh? Would have never thought that... In listening to the old Police tracks I noticed how huge yet crisp Copeland's drums were. I tried to tune up the snare to approximate some of that attack.

James, This is sweet.  All of what was said above.  The mix is KILLER.   A touch of Manhattan Transfer's Brazil album!

Daryl
Thanks Daryl. I put a lot into this mix, as there were a ton of elements that I wanted to fit in (something like 20 vocal tracks to begin with!)

Excellent James - shades of Thomas Dolby in there which I hope you take as a compliment.
I'm going to have another listen now

How did it sound the second time? ;)

Wow - that is great!  The mix is superb.  You've got a great handle on Superior Drums.  Is that Avatar or one of the others?  Processing inside SD2 and stereo in to Sonar?  The drums are fantastic.  I love Superior Drums.

Everything sounds so clean and airy and perfectly panned.. punchy.

Great composition and killer police type hooks too.

Thanks, Gino. I think it was the Allaire kit (one tom, two floor toms). I went through hell getting the drums right, so I thank you for noticing. No, I processed some inside SD and then outted to OH, Snare, Hats, Kick and Toms. The samples are great in SD but they do not sound great without processing. The kick and snare were way over quite a bit (+6.5 if I recall!), routed to the Master and then parallel processed through a drum bus to glue it them to the rest of the kit. The snare also went to a reverb bus for some more oomph.
