I'm not usually much of a signature fan, but I dig this one (that truss rods cover is a bit loud for my taste though).

I like the idea of a double cutaway, bu the Epiphone Genesis always looked a bit crippled to me. This one stretches the design into something a bit more balanced. I'd be curious to try one.

Epiphone are on a roll lately, they've announced quite a few potentially very nice guitars.

Didn't have any previous experience w/ gold hardware, but that's what's on my Epiphone P-93 (lovely guitar) and after 3 months of playing, the bridge is still intact.

That's 2 months and a half better than all my other Epiphones.

Yep. I like the look of this one. Hope it plays as nice.

LOL Sorry 'boy that, Mike.

The funny part is that, I really don't need another guitar except maybe an electric/acoustic and a nylon string one.

Other than that, I'm thinking of putting new pick ups in the SGJ, most likely the 57s I've been eying for a long time.

A pal of mine is likely to drop by in December and pick up my US strat to work on it - finally! I miss the strat every now and then. Strats are just so very comfortable to play (if not for the fact that the knobs are a bit in the way). Putting a humbucker at the bridge should bring it closer to what I want sonically.

A lot of the new Epis look great. I am really interested in hearing the new Epi Alnico PRO pickups. They look good on paper. One of the best sounding LPs I ever played was an "off the rack" LP-100. It was right there with a TOTL Gibson LP in tone and feel. There were MANY others between the two guitars and it was likely a fluke but on that day, in that store... the most expensive Gibson LP and the cheapest Epi LP sounded and played almost identical. The Gibson was 30x the price of the Epi.
I like Epiphones and especially like the new ones. I like their marketing and everything. I need to get a Epi SG. I've said that before huh? Ever since you posted the pics of yours, I've been wanting one.

I have one of those Alnico Pro in neck position in my LP Traditional Pro (the one I'm playing in my avatar pic), coupled with a ProBucker at the bridge. They sound terrific, imho.

The workmanship on that guitar is so-so compared to my other Epi, and noticeably below average in terms of finish. The switch needs to be replaced. But in terms of sounds, it's great.

And the feel... They had 3 or 4 of them in the store and I tried each of them - technically, I was more likely to pick up the black one, or even the dark red, but the minute I picked this one, it just locked into my hands and against my body. And it has this great thick neck.

There's not much one can do about the finish, but in the end, it doesn't really matter. With minor hardware upgrade, that guitar is incredible.

NICE! Have you seen the new Hybrid SD neck pickup? http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/humbucker/medium-output/sh16_59_custom/

I have a spare JB sitting around so I'm not likely to buy one but it looks like a good pickup.

Yup - SD is on my top sites list on Facebook. They often post pretty informative pieces for people who are less technically inclined or have a hard time differentiating a screwdriver from a anvil, like myself.
