Commented on SC... overall I think it's brilliant. The reverb sits just right and the departure from your usual style made me sit up and take notice.

Cheers,
Terry.

I think that you could improve this quite a bit by varying the orchestration, especially using woodwinds for color changes.  The flute over high string cluster gets tiring after a while.

Try one some of these for size:

Oboe or clarinet on the melody.

Double the flute melody with a celeste.

Strings playing the melody in octaves over woodwinds in harmony (bass clarinet, 2 clarinets, 2 oboes).

Same as above but double string melody with flute.

Same as above but add mid-range french horn harmony for thick "glue".

Flute and oboe playing melody in octaves over french horn chords, use whatever you want for bass note.

Substitute celeste, glockenspiel or piano for the harp.

Have more fun with it!

So, amongst your many other talents, you have now taken up writing music for Natural History films and TV programmes. And perfect it is too! I love music that tells a story and that is exactly what this does. Off to the green woods and the misty dells; see the dew on the spider's web; watch the tumbling cascade of the brook - exactly what we all do on a Sunday! I don't need pictures to show what you are writing about, you fire the imagination - and that is the epitome of perfection! But of course I would expect nothing else from you!

Hi Jonas, thanks for the suggestions but for me the flute over the high strings is the best bit, sorry you don't like it. ; ) The harp stays, took me ages to get that sound ; ).There is an oboe doubling the flute in the middle section. Anyway, I know there's lots of room for improvement but this is what I had in mind.

Hi Malcolm, nice to see you again. Thanks for the nice words, I always hope my tunes tell a story. Thanks, again : )

Hi Rik,

It's Sunday and this is perfect! Great melody and textures. My only complaint is that it ended too soon.

I'd love to hear something like this that incorporated your guitar playing...

Wow--I'm impressed!  I didn't know you could do that all on your guitar!  :)

Hi Gary, thanks, glad you like it. If I just had a bit more time.....

Hi J., thanks, well, to be honest, I didn't play it all at the same time : )
