No one has mentioned an input specifically for the guitar or one for both mic and guitar. I have no way to test that so I'm wondering?

I have been noticing lately that my 79 Les Paul custom (57n/57 plus b) sit much better in the mix than my Ibanez RG320DXQM with EMGs (81b/85n). I have no doubt that the quality of the guitar has something to do with all this. I wonder how the EMGs would sound in a better guitar with a birdseye maple neck and fingerboard and a swamp ash body. The neck would be nice and fat for you guys but normal for me. Then again, I sick of batteries even though they last almost forever.

I did some more testing last night and I just can't get into it. All the rack effects are unusable IMO. I'll do some more testing inside Sonar though. I'll try and post some examples either today or tomorrow but probably Wednesday.

I would think that the Gibson and Ibanez would present different impedance's to your audio interface. Could that be the difference you hear? IF you had an amp with a line out, you could let the amp provide a consistent impedance to the interface regardless of the guitar you use.

Are you saying to use the emulated line out (what I use now) or the send? I don't mic my cab, though I wish I could.

I meant an emulated line out, so it looks like that theory is shot.
