hahaha hi, Herb and it's great to see you here as well! I moved - there still is nothing close to marriage in the works haha But yes, I'm becoming more comfortable with the Sonar X1 now and have left MC5 behind (can't believe I said that!) and am focusing on new writing and enjoying a great team-up of collab works in progress. I'm really having fun again, and don't want to think about how close I came to walking away from it all in frustration! it's good to see everyone here still plugging away - it's encouraging! ~ John

yeah...I finally migrated to X1 essentials .... never thought I'd give up MC4 but I did.

Still writing and working on the dream.

Welcome back, John!  Definitely long time, no see.  And this is a great come back!  Great job by everyone.  Well, OK, internet has decided to act up, so I can't hear it all right now.  But your vocals sound great!  Great lyrics, great playing and mixing.

Now it's me that hasn't done much recording in months.  (so don't even try to find a piece of mine to comment on mine...seriously!)  :)

Glad you're back....and hope it won't be another year before you post another one.  :)

Janet, thanks for stopping by to listen! I'm back for good, although it seems in this area of interest, we all have to take breaks from time to time to sort of recharge. I think I knew that when I first heard Mikael's works on here, then we teamed up on "Silence", that we were going to work together again. now, it's a steady flurry of emails and multiple projects at once. I've never been so busy with music, but thrilled as well! Mikael and his friend Stefan on this one, have been awesome to work with and the next 2-3 coming up soon are equally amazing pieces to put together. As you can imagine, it took a major kick to get me to leave MC5 and go steady now into Sonar, I had the 8.5 PE and recently stepped up to X1 PE. I've had a few minutes of frustration here and there wondering where they tucked a particular function or feature (and at times, screaming "how do I turn it OFF!!?" haha but it occurs to me that I have a really solid, working system that just WORKS each time I turn it on now, and I can finally focus more on creation and less on asking on here "how do I ....? " all the time. Progress! So, I also hope that you will get back into playing and recording! Don't let those skills atrophy! This goes for all of us on here! We have all made huge investments in this craft. You have way too much talent and too much to share, so jump back into the pool! I'll look for you on here and over at the coffeehouse, maybe we can do donuts and coffee! Cheers!! ~ John

Nice song, and nicely done, except the end? Well, I guess it ends!

thanks for listening, Alf! I was wondering if anyone else besides me thought that the ending was too abrupt! In one of my early takes, I had the ending repeat and fade using that nice acoustic guitar by Mikael. Maybe I can get him to add that back in when we review it again! Thanks again for taking the time to listen and comment! ~ John

I don't like faded endings..... nice buttoned down ending work best IMHO..... although I will let the final chord ring..... with a quick fade by envelope.

True - I know what you mean, Herb. I think it depends though, on a lot of variables in the song. The beat and tempo, what's going on rhythmically, how recently the last word of lyric has been sung.... I often can't get my ears to like a sudden single-chord ring. In this one, I still think some sort of actual ending is needed, perhaps longer than a chord, maybe an instrumental phrase yet. But definitely, it doesn't have to be a fade out to sound good.

John, if you've only had a few minutes of frustration with X1, then you're doing better than a lot of us!  :)  Glad you've having fun with it and really glad it's solid. :)  Looking forward to hearing more!

Hi John,

Beautiful tune and production. Your vocal and lyrics are really nice and you're absolutely correct about  Mikael and Stefan's talent/abilities.

Well done!
