Hi Daryl, thanks for taking the time.  I think the fizz you are hearing is a result of mastering the wave file too loud.  I will reduce the volume by several db on the next pass.  The bass samples come from Dimension Pro.  The one at the beginning and end is called Modern from the Synth Bass patches, and the one in the middle section is Artificial Fretless, also from the Synth Bass patches.

James, I'm glad you liked it.  Some of your own work inspired me to do this instrumental, so thanks for that.

Daren, I'm glad you liked it, as well.  Your own venture into experimental music was on my mind, too.  I enjoyed this project so much that I'm going to continue scoring old videos that I have lying around.

Hi Lynn,
Nice song...it does kinda hearken back to Enigma.
A couple notes -

I do hear the "jump cut" that was referred to earlier in the thread. It happens between 2:32 and 2:33 and I think it's either a cut/trimmed waveform at a non-zero point or an artifact of the Z3ta patch you're using.

You may want to experiment with a reverb tail at the end just to give the listener the impression that the song ends "on purpose" as opposed to checking his playback device or streaming server. If you still want to maintain an abrupt or black-hole kind of feel, maybe even try adding some reverb to the final cymbal crescendo, bounce it, cut off just the reverb tail, reverse it and cross-fade it with the original reverb tail so that you hear first the cymbal crescendo, then the reverb tail which transitions into the reversed tail and ends abruptly.

OTOH, if you like it that way or if it's video scoring and it works with the film, leave it just as it is :)

Nice work,
Dean

Shawn and Dean, thanks for your time and comments.  Regarding the ending, it does fit the video because the video abruptly comes to an end when I run out of film.  However, as a stand alone song I can see your point.  I could easily fade it on the final loop and might have, except I do that so often.  But, if it fits it fits.  As for the "jump cut",  this is the kind of thing that I look for from my fellow forum members.  I will go back to X1 and replay that section to find a fix.  Thank you for taking the time for a detailed explanation.

To Moe and Dean, I just went to the source and discovered the the "jump edits" you're hearing is the result of an unquantized synth part that started just ahead of the measure by a few clicks.  Good ears gentlemen.  I'm on it and will post the correction shortly.

This is pretty cool. I don't think it sounds like 'Enigma' but I do think it's got a cool cross-era vibe with touches from synth wizards of the 70s through to up to date stuff.

Good job, love the bass patch and the choice of synths is good.

Cheers,
Terry.

Terry, I appreciate your comments because this style of music is more up your alley than mine, I believe.  I want to bring to your and others attention that I remixed and reposted this song just minutes ago to address the jump cuts issue and to put a fade on the ending.  Thanks to all who pointed this out to me.
