Did you notice the tinkling bell sound of the water in the shower? I had a really bad wax buildup and a nurse cleaned it out. One ear had something about the size of a cigarette butt in it, I had no idea. It was the first thing I noticed, the tinkle little bell sound of the water in the shower. Then maybe you are not supposed to wear them in the shower, I don't know.
I need to go to an audiologist. I have tried some online hearing tests and I don't seem to hear anything above 8khz, I think that's right... high end. Then too I have really bad tinnitus and I wonder if it masks the upper frequencies. I wonder if the cures that they, audiologists, tout for tinnitus actually fixes it or does it mask it. I cannot hear crickets unless I am out among them. My wife will say, wow listen to the crickets sometimes when we g to bed. I'm like what crickets? I've gotten used to it and though my ears ring rather loudly all the time, if I don't think about it I forget about it. They are ringing almost as loudly as the TV right now but the ringing is so high pitched that I am able to hear normal midrange and lows just fine.
I need to go to the doctor, don't I?
I sure am glad you are better. Do the hearing aids bother your ears? Do they hurt your ear at all? Do you have to get used to them or is it like they aren't there, you just hear better? Are they the ones that go down in your ear or the more visible ones or did you get implants?
I'm curious because I think this is probably in my near future. FWIW, if I had the unfortunate choice, I would take being blind over being deaf without a second thought.
Congrats!
