Sorry about that Dub.....but 91...what a truly epic age to reach. When you think of all the changes she saw over the years, it just boggles the mind.

Thank you all for kind words. I am striving to appreciate all the good memories and strong family values she imparted in all of us instead of dwelling on grief.

Bit, good luck on procedure. You and your wife are in my thoughts. I'm sure you already have sources, but just in case, I have shot ads for some very high quality dispenseries I can refer you to.

Your dad died from colon cancer at age 63. My mother also died from colon cancer - also at age 63. I just turned 63. I don't believe in magic numbers, but I'm taking this seriously. Family history is a red flag.

Colon cancer is the #2 killer, behind lung cancer. It's just not as cool to talk about as, say, breast cancer. There are no walkathons or bake sales or brown ribbons for colon cancer. Just sudden death for over 50,000 people a year, most of whom were taken by surprise because they thought a colonoscopy sounded icky.

My grandmother died from colon cancer and so did a first cousin. My father had cancer cells removed before they were malignant. Fortunately he has been cancer free since then.

I've often wondered why breast cancer seems to get ALL of the attention. You don't see people wearing ribbons and marching for testicular or prostrate cancer for example. I'm not downplaying how serious and tragic breast cancer is - it's just strange how much more publicity it gets.

Power of marketing. I recall as a child, lung cancer was the cancer getting all the attention. Skin cancer made a push for awhile, but the breast cancer people jumped on the opprtunities to make huge marketing pushes like partnering with the most popular sport in our country. Even the more crass campaigns like " I heat boobies" bracelets keep awareness high with no way to make equivalent campaigns for other types. I doubt "I heart anus" bracelets would fly.
