Just wanted to share that rock is not dead.  I saw Rival Sons up in Philly last week, and WOW. That is a band dripping with talent, attitude, and sheer rock awesomeness.  If you are into Zep, or any blues based, riff-heavy rock,  check them out.  I thought I loved the albums, then I saw them live.  Now I REALLY love them.

Huge guitar sound via (mainly) Gibson Firebirds into Orange amps, giant sounding Mayers Bros. drums, incredible vocal keening.  They had it goin' on.

They just recorded their most recent album in Nashville, recording mostly live in the studio.  It too is amazing.

That is all.

Good band. I started a thread about them a while back, great to hear a young band doing stuff like that.

I guess they have no bass player else it would have been mentioned.

It sounds very Led Zeppeliny, so no bass player required.

Good stuff, indeed. The talent and energy are there. All they need now is to hook up with a good songwriter/lyricist.

I'd love to see them live, that's for sure.

For the Brits, I see they're performing on Later with Jools Holland tonight:
  • "From Long Beach, California, comes the blues-rock of Rival Sons, who make their UK television debut with tracks from their fourth album Great Western Valkyrie, which takes its inspiration from the original blues/psychedelic rockers of the classic rock era"

Bass playing (and tone) on Pressure & Time is superb.

Yeah, I forgot about their new bass player (who also plays through Orange amps).  He plays a great, steady, dirty bass.  I'll check out Jools Holland for sure.  There are a few nice live shows on Youtube, but unfortunately, they play 80% of their shows in Europe where they are having much more success.  Oh well.  Glad to have caught them when I did.  The club in Philly was not totally packed, so as a result me and the missus got to see them play from right on the edge of the stage.  Everyone at the show was duly impressed.
