I'm wondering how the eLicenser works with DAWs that are not on the internet.

I am learning that I need to download and install the eLicense Control Center on my internet laptop to get a eLicense running and the activations processed and loaded onto the USB eLicense.

I am also learning that I need to install an eLicense USB driver on my no-internet DAW. The question I have is about the eLicense USB driver; Can I just install the driver or will I need to install the eLicense Control Center on both my internet laptop and my no-internet DAW?

Thanks for any info you can share.

Did you check the elicenser website?  You should have no problems.  You will need the eLicense Control Center on both systems regardless.

Yes I did so before posting my question.

Thanks. That's the info I wanted but could not make a conclusion after reading up about the eLicense. I figured someone who has been through the install would know the answer.

Thank You.

You should get a USB dongle regardless.

I recently got burned with my Largo install.  I needed to reinstall Windows, so on the re-installation and authorization of Largo, I was denied--license invalid. Turns out there is no cloud-based electronic anything.  I assume that my serial/authorization would be downloaded from the cloud based on my account credentials.  Well, that was my mistake and misunderstanding I suppose.  Overall, pretty lame software and serial management.  So to end a long story, if I would have backed the serial up on the dongle, I wouldn't have suffered the loss of a $150 piece of software.

+1 to hardware!

I got the eLicense installed, and I installed control center on both systems.

When you first launch Control Center it wants to connect to the internet. If you need to modify your license you do need to connect to the internet so I did with my laptop.

When the connect to the server dialog popped up on the first run on my offline DAW I dismissed it saw the active license on the eLicenser no problem.

It would be nice if the documentation added that one little note that said that the initial dialog could be ignored.

I found documentation that said you could use the eLicense on an offline DAW, but I never found documentation that said you had to install Control center on the offline DAW, I just figured it out with the help and advice from here and elsewhere. I never found documentation that reassured you that you can dismiss the connect to server dialog once your license is active.

It's the little things that can make an experience less that familiar until the experience is, as they say, familiar.

Thank You.
