Hi All

It has been a while since I posted something. I have been too busy between going to China, Costa Rica and putting new stucco siding in my church. Hope that I have more time now to get back to do my favorite things to do. :)

Here is a total redo of a previous song. It is more like a brand new song. Please let me know what you think on the music, lyrics, and on anything.

You should call it Psalms in the night :-)

I can tell this was mixed by the drummer.

Very nice... great playing, inspired lyrics, cool arrangement, very good vocal performance... I think some vocal harmany would be good...

Nice song. The guitars are just a bit low in the mix. The bass and bass drum are fighting for the same space. and your vocals seem muddy.

Don't take it as a downer. I like the song. It has a nice feel and a great hook.

Well done!

I tried to follow the lyrics in Psalms 77, but maybe I didn't get what your thoughts were as to Psalms 77. The song was nice and the singing was very good. Instrumentation fit together nicely. Praise the Lord for His many gifts. Peace be with you. Blessings, John

Terrific song.  The performances are well done, and I love the arrangement.  However, the mix could use some adjustments.  It's heavy on the drums and light on the bass guitar on my speakers.  That and what others have said could be the basis of a very good remix if you're inclined to do so.  This song is definitely worth getting right.

Thank you all for listening and commenting.  I uploaded a new version that hopefully fixes some of your comments.

Guitarpima - now that you mentioned, the vocals do sound a bit muddied.  I added eq to cut the low end.
notnat - harmony would be interesting.  Let me play around with that.
theguitarplayer - The short answer: I used quite a bit of the phrases from Psalm 77, therefore the name.  The long answer: These psalms always facinates me.  Why in a religious book, would they include such a downer?  Now these psalms usually end in a more upbeat tone that this song.  I think these psalms are there so that when we encounter these situation we remember these "Psalms in the night" (the band19 you are right!) and be encouraged.
lynn,  bapu, -  glad you liked the song.

Hi, Vicente,

It's really great to see you back on the forum, and wonderful job on this great inspirational song!  Excellent instrumental performances and fantastic vocals.  I really liked the guitar solos and fills, too.

I only heard the new mix, and my only, very minor suggestion, that might possibly help address what the guys mentioned about the drums, would be to maybe try panning the drums more towards the center and dropping their volume just a little bit.  It sounds to me that the drums are panned way out to the sides and may still be masking the guitars just a bit.  Other than that, the mix sounds super on my system.

Fantastic work, Vicente, and welcome back to the forum!

Thanks Bob. It is the cymbal that is panned to the right where the guitar is at. Let me try to switch that.
