Hey everybody! I was wondering what kind of RTL people get with the V-Studio 100 around here. I bought one assuming it would be decent, but reading some of the posts here, I'm getting worried. Thanks for any info! R

Hi,

I have no problems with my VS-100 with ASIO. Either with soft-synths or my Korg M50. The VS-100 is a really powerful interface with many functions (mixer, recorder, ...) too - and as someone wrote, it is build like a tank.
In the past, I tested it in WDM-mode, which was also very good. But I think to remember that I had one plugin, which had a problem with WDM, so I switched to ASIO. Since that, absolutely no problems.

The only thing I´m dissattisfied with is the support, but that is now discussed enough here in the forum!

My $279 delivered[cheap in Oz] N.I. KA 6 Interface is even MORE tank like,it's heavy!
And runs crazy lower latency[guitar sims anyone?] than the VS-100,like 32 samples, with plugin heavy tracks, when the VS/Sonar will NOT even open a project, untill up around 96[at the VERY least].

I think I might resell mine[if anyone will buy it]This:http://www.oblique-audio.com/ is an excellent tool for measuring TRUE Round Trip Latency,as all DAWS,Interfaces are slightly optimistic,in their readings, all of them!

The VS-100's USB 2.0 RTLatency is not good, but if you don't mind 12+ms Round Trip,at the VERY least,or SONAR will NOT open, let alone play cleanly, but when it does[188 samples!!],it's got better preamps, and possibly conversion than the KA 6,but so it should!

I think the main problem,is it was released when USB 2.0 was still kind of new,but even with a crazy cheap $162.50[AUD] pricetag,I'm dissapointed, with the 2008 RTLatency, even though it was made in late 2009.

im not sure you can even put these 2 in the same class.
the vs 100 has a motorized slider,6 inputs,a built in HD.
it's not just a soundcard but its also a control surface.

and the prices right now on these i just saw for 300 bucks..300 bucks!!
it was 750 last year.
i paid 300 for my vs20 and i love it,its got 8 sliders for control over 8 tracks in sonar.

i havent heard of any issues with the vs 100
to the OP...what did you hear?

the windows 8 drivers are already out on the vs 100

Now,I have 2 [a USB 1.1 UA25-EX] Roland/cakewalk interfaces, that sound great, but perform very below average, when it comes to TODAY's standards, and all along I kept saying to myself-"but the RME Babyface, doesn't even have a sturdy body,to plug mic's into"uugggh 3 USB interfaces[including the only one that works properly[,and even with the cheap priced VS,all 3 add up to what I should have bought in the FIRST place.....lesson learned, but I love X2!

Whats the point of all those features, when it can only "talk" back and forth to Sonar/Computer,at sub standard speed?

Why do you think it's being dropped?

My only recourse is "But I Love Sonar""I Love Sonar"......I just don't want to see that awful ASIO UI with the little "notches" ever again! AHhhhgh

Bed Time....it's 10am here with no sleep, not cool!

im not sure where your getting your so called facts from man,but there far from the truth.
first of all the vs 100 is not getting dropped, its still selling very well at 750.00.
it was only one or two sites doing a huge sale on these for 300.00-400.00.

plenty of people are using these and having great luck using them, ask anyone who owns one what they thnk of the so called round trip latencys your boasting about.

i have the next step down from the vs 100 and i havent had a latency issue at all,i mean like never.

its obvious that your mad at cakewalk for something so your trying to sabatoge their sales.
where are you getting this info from that they are discontinuing the vs100 ?
maybe if you can show me and you can validate that your just not trolling another thread

because here your doing the same thing, trying to sell your N.I. KA 6 Interface  off to  other people.

im sorry but you sound redicules,
and yes it sounds like you need some sleep.

Hey Chuckebaby, I'm sorry, but you're the one that sounds ridiculous! Round Trip Latency is of utmost importance when one wants to do input monitoring. If I play a guitar live through Guitar Rig, I cannot deal with 12ms. My MOTU PCI based rig gets down below 5ms and that works. I was hoping to use the VS 100 for a live keyboard rig, but now it seems I mistakenly assumed Cakewalk would have provided good drivers for this thing...... R

Well, I got the VS 100 today and installed it on my Dell 14R laptop...must say that I'm VERY pleased! Didn't realize it even has a crude reverb in the built-in mixer, so it can totally be running a live gig, with ins-outs independent of Ableton Live with verb/compressor/eq. I flashed the newest firmware and the RTL is pretty good actually, definitely fine for gigs, pre-amps sound good, and the Control Surface works GREAT! The straight to SD recorder is so flexible, allowing you to record channel 1 and 2 hard left and right, while monitoring a proper mix with effects: great for recording live 2 track gigs! I installed it on my main rig as a control surface only, which is excellent for motorized fades and remote control of the transport.......I'm very pleased!

I bought mine because it offered the double duty of control surface and stand alone recorder.
Wasn't overwhelmingly impressed by the software, but I had already ordered X2 Pro prior to it
because the demo felt nice and has a great flow for me.

I honestly have used it more as a stand alone recorder without computer connection.
But for what I bought and am using it for at the moment, it pretty much fills the bill.
Yeah, getting it at a dump price doesn't hurt, but I was looking at it for 200.00 more anyway.

Seems to work fine with the X2, although, I'm not really sure if the motorized fader is even working.
Records great and plays back into a larger recorder via digital out.

So far, I'm happy with it.
