"Codex" - a granular wavetable synth featuring their "Virtual Voltage" technology. Anyone tried it yet? Intro price of $99. I have their Element synth which is I have to say excellent and I use it a lot. I think that has this "Virtual Voltage" business in it as well. But wavetable granular...what other synths offer similar? I bet I have something in my Reaktor library...

Since I'm not a "synth guy" I'm not sure I want it since I'm not sure what I would do with it.

I'm guessing "virtual voltage" is another fancy term for analogue modelling.

Check out Xfer Records new synth release. Strangely similar.

Serum, as stated above, is out too. Apparently there is a third one coming out soon as well. Must be the new thing we all need.

Reading over the features list, it looks like it may have only taken them a decade to catch up to Zebra. Progressive wavetable scanning, modulation matrix, formant filters, user-loadable wavetables, sequencer/arp - all forward-thinking features from 2003. The graphics are nice, though.
 
But I may be missing something important: Virtual Voltage Technology. Given that they offer no explanation as to what that even means, we can only assume that it's cutting-edge and not an invention of the marketing department.

I did read an in-depth explanation of what Virtual Voltage was, but I can't remember where. As you can imagine though, it's the usual stuff about modeling analog components in a way that nobody else ever has before....blah blah blibbety. Having said that, Element is a great sounding subtractive synth. Although having said that, I did only pay $50 for it.
