I like the time sig but you could have just as easily used 5/4 LOL.
I thought the same initially but then realised that it really depends on where the beat is. I mean 3/4 and 6/8 are mathematically the same but the beats are in a different place. Traditionally in 5/4 you'd put the emphasis on beats 1 and 4 - I haven't listened back yet (and I'm at work so can't until later) but where is the emphasis in this one?
Cheers,
Terry.
true. 5/4 and 10/8 are mathematically equivalent, but since the guitar pattern is playing 10 8th notes, and the main downbeat comes on the 5, it seemed more logical to deem it 10/8. the 1st measure in intro where the guitar starts (after the 'we will contact you shortly' words) is a pick-up on last 2 8th notes.
also i hear what people are saying about the overly-distorted drums, but i'm worried if i attenuate them down it will take the 'weirdness' out of the mix. this is more supposed to be a Dada-esque piece, like Duchamp's "Fountain" lol it will never be on the radio ;p more towards the spirit of Luigi Russolo/Noise Music etc. - but maybe i'll tame the distortion down a tad to make it less jarring. the drums are actually acoustic drums w/ distortion.....heavy gate on kick & snare
lol just realized now that i mentioned Duchamp i'm sure pistol pete will talk about this being a good tune to pee on ;p
