As part of the forum reorganization, there is now a separate Deals forum for sales and group buys. That'll be a nice improvement, I think. 
 
Product announcements are still OK here, even if they happen to mention an introductory price.
 
So when the long-awaited Talent plugin shows up, that would definitely rate a post to the Software forum. Later, after everybody's figured out that it doesn't work, and it goes on sale at a 90% discount, that sale announcement would belong in the Deals forum.

Kind of like a wet blanket thrown on this forum with all the new levels of control and the threats of banishment. Sales must be hurting.
 
True, things got a bit out of hand on occasion myself included, but we mostly worked our differences out and the vibe was progressive and constructive overall. Hi energy and a tip from Larry on a no brainer deal. Freedom to speak, and the collective kept us in line if we strayed too far from that which was appropriate.
 
Now a new manifesto and an army of "moderators" ready to delete our concerns if it does not fit the party line. We got to hire a lawyer to micromanage what to post.
 
Sad deterioration. Would not be surprised if my rant is blacked out for complaining.
 
Other side of the reality. This is Cake's forum. They set the rules. I'm only a guest. Suck it up or go elsewhere.
 
Pissed off but maybe I'm wrong over dramatizing this.

Must admit, I don't post on KVR threads because of its moderation. One rule for old hands and another for newbies. Mind you, most forums are like that. I do buy and sell there though.

I am thankful Cakewalk listened to the opinions expressed here and retained the ability to post deals.
 
I work in knowledge management for a large corporation so I may look at this from a different perspective form many of you. Classification is king. So I for one support the idea of a separating the deals forum from the third party software forum. In may cases discussions were often buried here under a ton of news about the latest offers.
