Kinda like more hip hop though..   Its weak in the bridge.  No vocals yet.  I want to start looking for my vocalists by january..  I think by january, I should be ready to seek out, what I've got in my mind, for vocalists...  I've got in my head, an idea of what I am looking for, for vocals for this stuff...

Anyways, mix feedback, composition feedback, all feedback totally welcome.  don't be shy, you wont hurt my feelings....

Thank you for listening,

cheers

The Maillard Reaction

It seems solid and well balanced.

If it were me, I'd get the vocals in ASAP so that the instrumentation and any nuanced performance of the instruments can be played in such a way as to actually support the vocals. Right now you are getting close to finishing the most important phase of the project and the instruments are sort of like abstract entities rather than part of whole serving the  vocal part you are speaking of adding.

It's not like there is a right or wrong way to do things... but the way you are working on this song will make it harder to get everything to gel up into something.

For example; If you play to a vocal you will be less likely to end up with a synth line sitting right on the vocal. If you can avoid that from the beginning, while tracking, you will not have to resort to using ninja-EQ-tricks to surgically dig out all the "mud" when it is time to mix.

I liked the whistle cue.... it reminded me of driving in the Bahamas or watching the Flamingo parade.

:-)

Hi Mike,

Thanks for this awesome advice.  I am trying to get over some obstacles that are preventing me from recording vocalists right now..  its a combination of budget, and not knowing how I am going to set up my business entity..  I am a little lost..  but I think I better search for the solution...

I totally hear how the synths are sitting, where vocals would be...  That is definitely something I better watch out for...  Have looksie here, for that awesome, "beach party," Whistle

Hmmmm... I think this is pretty cool. Would like to hear where this will go with vocals and a slightly tighter mix. Right now there are a few things that are kind of falling outside of it. But good choice in sounds! And I agree with the whistle. It's really cool. I'd re-work where you have it and make it a more of a hook element. Also the beat get sliiiiightly airy at times. Could add some punch to what's already there or add some tiny elements.

All in all, the melodies and riffs here are cool and the arrangement works. I particualrly liked the sound and drama at around two minutes into the song. Good stuff!

Hi ProjectM..

I must confess..  The drums are not as punchy as I would have liked them!  omg, you are so right.  I wish I had another producer here, to check mixes with, before I rendered an uploaded them, cause another ear is a great ear!  :-)

Anyways, I'm glad you liked these sounds, I sound designed them all..  Even the drums, "they are built on layers." except the whistle, and the some of the cymbals..   those are straight from the libraries, albeit thoroughly eq'd.

Anyways, thank you for the feedback, much appreciated

You have created a solid foundation for what's to come.  Don't worry about not having another producer in the room-that's why you're here.  I'd love to hear the final version of this.  Keep us posted.
