Dan, a seller at KVR has it going for $59 (you can bargain for less) if you decide to get Cuba. I was thinking about getting it myself, but ended up getting Brio.

Yeah, but KVR mods recommend not using Paypal's "gift option" for purchases as it is not safe for the buyer. I'm already leery, and this one stopped me, lol.

Very true that you must be always careful buying from fellow forum members as you never know.....

I can of course only speak from my past experience over there.......I've only used Paypal in the last 4-5 years buying/selling etc...) and all of them have been good experiences. There's a Feedback Thread that shows past sales experiences of sellers and you can easily find out if someone is "questionable" or not.
All I know is the particular guy selling Cuba is a long time/regular forum member, but I have no clue about his character.

Cuba is great...for a fairly limited cubano sound. All the instruments with the exception of some percussion would be hard pressed to find a home in non latin mixes. Not that you can't do it...because I have...but they were recorded and processed to sound like authentic Cuban ensembles. And they do.

If you're looking for all round useful percussion...Brio is a much better (and cheaper) choice.

The Maillard Reaction
I played a tambourine part over a drum track that I laid down earlier today.

I thought of this thread as I made my way through the whole song. I was feeling pretty good about the timing and groove.

Slick.

Then I realized that although my drum kit mics and preamps were up and running, when I had record armed the percussion track I hadn't actually turned on the preamp for the mic I used for the tambourine overdub.

Duh!!! Start over slick.

:-)

Once I got it down I used the new Pro-Q2 piano roll features to highlight some narrow bell shape boosts at G, B, and D to compliment the song key.

Good times.
