I'm not interested in most parlor guitars BUT I found one that seems interesting. It is the Simon and Patrick Woodland Pro Parlor Sunburst: http://www.simonandpatrick.com/woodlandproparlorbst.htm S&P video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_Ne64r6zxA
There are several 000, 00, OM, and I'm going to try the Epiphone EL-00 PRO but I don't expect much at that price. Under a grand is good. I'm not interested in spending over 2k... yet. The Premier Guitar review on the S&P makes it sound like a really killer guitar. I have an old Takamine dreadnaught and a Taylor "Big Baby". The Taylor is much more comfortable than the Tak.. but the sound suffers a little. They claim that the S&P has low end that defies physics... that sound's like a good thing. I tend toward a light touch so I think a smaller body acoustic isn't going to be a problem but the comfort is a BIG DEAL for me these days.

Do you have any suggestions of guitars t look at?

I'd love a Martin 000 but really don't want to spend that much, but I might. I have not checked out all their models.

Thanks,
Julien

I'm waiting on my Martin 000-28 Ambertone to be built. I can't talk about the deal I got yet, but I've seen them used in the 2k range.

Thanks Randy. I was just looking at some Recording King guitars too. They have a "Dirty Thirties" series that is really inexpensive but I'm sure they don't have the tone of an 000 Martin. I found a side by side comparison of the OOO-18 and the 000-28. I could hear a little difference between the rosewood and the mahogany but I don't think I'd know if they were not side by side. I'm going to take a trip down to Sam Ash and GC, they both have acoustic rooms but of course, all the guitars have dead strings. There is another Atlanta area store that has an acoustic room. I think I'm going to just go and check the feel of different guitars.
Thanks!

jbow , How you doing on your Parlor guitar search ?

I have an Art & Lutherie AMI in black …I suppose some folks may consider this to be a lower end Parlor Guitar ...

When I was shopping around for a Parlor Guitar I check out and demoed The Seagull , The Simon and Patrick ,The Washburn ,The Gibson BB King , and a couple of other higher priced models …
Yeah , if money was no object I would say The Martin or The Larrivee would be top on my list ..

I love my AMI  Parlor Guitar …it is great for finger style playing , it is well made , the sound is very loud , balanced , this guitar has a decent bass responce and it can fill up a room . People with much more expensive guitars are usually shocked at how full it sounds for the size when they hear me play it and they always ask me if they can try it out

good luck I hope you find the right Parlor Guitar for you ,

Thanks Kenny. I have not gotten out to take a look at anything yet but I hope to on Wednesday. The wife is in "redecorating mode" and people are coming to install built in shelves and drawers etc in the den/LR. I am outta here. I have to get some sort of articulating arm so they can mount the TV other than that... I'm gone. I don't know wht women cannot leave a perfectly good rom ALONE. Anyway, I'm thinking Marietta and Atlanta are calling me. I should be able to try out quite a few guitars. I will look for an AMI to try. I'm also wanting to try parlor with a mahogany top because I've got "bright acoustic" covered. I also have an OLD Harmony flat top that I picked up for 7.50 somewhere. The neck had come unglued from the body. I took it to a good luthier and he shimmed it and re-glued it. It doesn't have the best action but is a killer blues box and great for slide. I will certainly take a look at that guitar if I can find one and I appreciate the input. I'll report back!

HEY... that is a good looking guitar. I really like the Cedar Antique Burst!
